On one of the stone shoals of the Cape Chersonesos, on a section of the coast about five meters long, unknown artists carved rock paintings. Various versions have been put forward regarding the age and authorship of the images.
According to one version, “some guy has been drawing these drawings for several years. Brings tools and hollows with him. He said that part of the work belongs to him, part of his friend."
According to another, the images "were made during the filming of the film" Sappho "by stone cutters from Balaklava."
The third version attributes the authorship to vacationers. “For several years I followed the appearance of new works there. I saw them for the first time about 3-4 years ago, unfortunately, I don't remember exactly. There is even a bathtub, I suppose, for a small child this man hollowed out. It turns out very nicely. Photographed also a couple of years ago. Very interesting games of shadow and light are obtained. The image appears to be either concave or convex. So this is contemporary art."
And finally, according to the fourth version, the images under the lighthouse are more than a thousand years old. “I found out about them from the director of the Chersonesos reserve, he said that these are the remains of drawings by Greek artisans. It is a myth that someone makes them for the soul."
Our correspondent called the reception of the director of the Tavrichesk Chersonesos reserve and asked if the museum staff knew about these rock paintings. It turned out that they did not know, and this problem did not interest them at all.
