For several weeks, the information space of the Primorsky Territory was filled with reports that a mysterious creature allegedly lives in one of the deep-water lakes, which were previously used as a coal-mining quarry, and subsequently flooded. The unknown beast was immediately named the seaside Nessie
Who is Seaside Nessie?
It all started with photographs that the Dalnegorsk ufologist Valery Dvuzhilny saw. According to the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda", they depict suspicious footprints on the lake surface. The researcher of anomalous phenomena could not help but be interested in these frames, it was decided to go to the Chernigov region and look at the inhabitant of the underwater depths on the spot.
According to eyewitnesses who took photographs, they noticed a strange dissection of the water, as if something massive was floating at the speed of a motorboat close to the surface of the lake. Then they saw … tentacles - 7 - 8 pieces.
- We grabbed binoculars, - witnesses recall. - For several minutes we watched the creature play with its writhing limbs. No, they weren't driftwood or twigs, but tentacles - gray-brown, as thick as a human hand.
The area of the lake surface is under a thousand hectares. Until 1996, on the site of this muddy and very deep - almost 100 meters - reservoir there was a coal mine. Then the production was curtailed. The rains filled the bowl of the cut. The water in the lake is warm - under 30 degrees. The radiation level is increased in places. Fish are found - crucian carp, eels. Sometimes there are snakes - Amur snakes.
While exploring the lake at a depth of 42 meters, the echo sounder screen showed that something large was floating under the boat. A little later, the signal disappeared.
“We protored the western sector of the lake and sailed to the camp,” said Valery Dvuzhilny on his return from a trip to an abandoned quarry. - We noticed an intense interference on the echo sounder screen. A few seconds later, tentacles appeared from the water right along the course - first one, then a second, and a third. They rose 50 centimeters above the water and went to a depth. Yes, not smoothly, but with great speed, making circular movements. The thrust was so strong that a funnel-type triangle formed on the surface.

Researchers turned on the echo sounder again, but did not find the creature.
Valery Dvuzhilny and his friends decided to study the find in more detail next year. After all, the mystery of the seaside Nessie haunts them.
Residents of Rettikhovka did not meet monsters
After the release of materials about the monsters in the lake, the journalists of the Chernigov newspaper "De Facto" contacted the inhabitants of the village of Rettikhovka to ask them about everything in more detail. Moreover, various calls began to be heard in the editorial office: someone took this news with humor, and someone with alarm.
“My husband and I often go to this lake, which among themselves the Rettikhovites call Nine, for fishing,” said Rita Zaitseva, deputy head of the administration of the Rettikhovsky rural settlement, to De facto. - There are crucians, killer whales and other fish, but we have not met huge octopuses or any other monsters.
On the Nine, as a rule, no one rests. But residents constantly go to the lake on boats to fish. So if something anomalous was found there, we would definitely know about it.
“I've lived in Rettikhovka since 1959,” said Sophia Fil, “but this is the first time I've heard about the monster. My husband often goes there for fishing and hunting. And he is not afraid of anyone or anything, because for so many years I have not seen anything like that, about which the press writes.
- There are no monsters in our lake! - the head of the Rettikhovsky rural settlement Gennady Poleshchuk decisively declared. - Why scare people in vain? I was born and raised in Rettikhovka and have not seen any monsters here! On our Nine, where they fish, they hunt nearby and gather mushrooms, if anyone saw anything like that, everyone would know about it.
Now the leaders and residents of Rettikhovka are more concerned not with the mystical creatures in the Nine, but with the fact that the lake for the village is becoming a kind of threat. After the termination of the functioning of the coal mine, a small reservoir, having lost its runoff, after the rains began to fill with water and turn into a large and deep one. As a result, when there are heavy rains, the Nine is already overflowing the banks. Sooner or later, Rettikhovka may simply be flooded.
Therefore, at present, the administration of the settlement has addressed this problem to a scientific institute, and today scientists are considering the issue of making a channel for the lake, along which water from it will leave.
