Cannock Chase is a district in Staffordshire in England. It has long been famous as a place with high paranormal activity. UFOs, yeti, big black cats, little green men and even a creature similar to the Slenderman from urban legends were seen here.

There is another Cannock Chase mystery, which is associated with wolf-like creatures that have been regularly observed since 2007 in and near the military cemetery.

This cemetery, located between the towns of Stafford and Cannock next to the Camp Road, was the burial place of almost 5 thousand German prisoners of war who died in British camps during the First and Second World War.

The prisoners of war were buried in different cemeteries, but in 1959 it was decided to move all the remains to Cannock Chase and create a common memorial. Until the beginning of the 2000s, everything was calm here, but then among the graves they began to notice more and more animals similar to large dogs or wolves.

In England and Scotland, wolves were exterminated long ago, and large dogs, roaming by themselves, are very rare here. So it is not surprising that the observation of these animals among the graves caused a mystical horror. But the strangest thing was that sometimes people saw dogs or wolves, which walked on their hind legs, that is, just like a man.

The first official description of such a phenomenon appeared in the local Stafford Post in the April 26, 2007 issue of an article entitled "A Werewolf Sighted in Stafford." The journalist wrote that the local postman told him that when he rode his bicycle past the German cemetery early in the morning, he saw what he thought was a large dog.

When the postman drove farther and got closer to the creature, he realized that this was not a dog at all, but something terrible. This creature was a huge wolf and wandered among the stone tombstones, and then noticed the man and looked him straight in the eyes.

For several seconds the frightened man and the huge powerful beast looked at each other, and then the animal began to change its appearance. The hind legs of the wolf began to stretch and grow in length, and the body completely changed its shape. After a couple of moments, a man stood on two legs in front of the postman's eyes.

The shocked postman did not have time to really look at the transformed werewolf, as he immediately rushed to run towards the forest and disappeared from sight.

A couple of weeks later, another report came in about the sighting of a strange creature in the cemetery. This time, several teenage scouts saw him at once, assuring him that this was not a joke, but a real event.

According to the boys, they saw a wolf near the cemetery and thought that the animal had escaped from the zoo. But then the wolf began to change shape and became a two-legged hairy humanoid creature over 2 meters tall. Further, the creature, as in the first case, rushed to run into the forest.

The next observation came in July 2007 from a resident of the town of Ragley from the suburb of Cannock. Late in the evening, she was driving in her car along the road past the cemetery and saw a hairy creature standing upright on the side of the road.

When the woman's car almost caught up with the werewolf, he fell on all fours and quickly ran away somewhere, leaving a frightened woman with a heart pounding with fear.

Since then, for several more years, the local press reported the sighting of creatures who were nicknamed "Stafford's werewolves." Someone reported that there are at least several of these creatures and they live underground. An unidentified eyewitness allegedly personally saw how these creatures crawled out of the old mines in the forest.

It was also reported that local residents often lose their dogs, which are allowed to walk without a leash. Dogs run away somewhere and then no one ever finds them.
