In the north of Turkey, the ancient city of Hattusa, which is the capital of the Hittite kingdom, is located in the UNESCO World Memory of the World Register. The huge green stone of unknown origin located on its territory attracts scientists who for many years cannot solve the riddle of its origin.
Foreign tourists come to ancient Hattusa to make a wish on a huge green stone, called "the stone of wishes".
The head of the group of archaeologists Andreas Schachner told reporters that this stone is different from others in the ancient city.
“This is not a gem, it is composed of a dense rock - serpentinite or jade. The exact time of his appearance in the city is unknown. For decades, scientists from all over the world have not been able to figure out its origin."
Let us recall that in the ancient city of Hattusa, the first written peace treaty known to mankind was signed between the rulers of Egypt and the Hittite state.
Antique Hattusa has the status of a historical national park. On the territory of the ancient city there is a 71 meter underground passage, a palace, 31 temples, grain warehouses. The fortress wall around the city is six kilometers long. Excavations in the area have not stopped for 113 years.
