The total reserves of facing stone in the CIS countries amount to several tens of billions of cubic meters, with at least 10 thousand decorative varieties. Now 411 fields have been fully explored with a reserve of 1.36 billion cubic meters. Half of these deposits are being developed.

Many marble deposits have been discovered and developed in Central Asia. The most powerful of them is Gazgan in Uzbekistan, where pink, cream, orange, yellow, gray and black facing stone is mined, which is identical to the well-known Portuguese, Spanish, Norwegian varieties. Georgia is rich in marble deposits. Here in Moliti, Salieti, in Old and New Shrosha, red stone is mined,not inferior to French and Spanish red marble.

The most famous are the marbles of Italy. The famous white sculpted marble comes from Carrara, Tuscany. For many centuries, Carrara marble has been considered an extraordinary natural material, almost one of the wonders of the world - after all, it is able to transmit light to a depth of 4 cm! It was with him that Michelangelo worked. White, lustrous, easy to polish, this stone is still used today for the most sophisticated and sophisticated works in sculpture and architecture.

Parian yellowish marble, mined in Greece, also enjoys well-deserved fame. This stone served as material for the ancient Greek sculptors, whose works we admire today.

In the United States, significant layers of marble occur in the eastern part of the country, in the Appalachian Mountains and other regions. Marble is also mined in North Africa. A large deposit of dolomite marbles is located in Natal (South Africa).

There are also deposits of marble in Cuba, France, Norway and other countries.
