For the first time, the Roman Catholic Church opened its annual exorcism class in Rome to members of all major Christian denominations. The Pontifical University of Regina Apostolorum is a branch of the Vatican University in Rome that has hosted annual conferences on casting out demons for Catholic priests for the past 14 years.
But now the doors of the 14th Exorcism and Prayer of Liberation Course have been opened to groups once considered heretical and infected by demons just a few centuries ago.
Now about 250 Catholics, Lutherans, Greek Orthodox and Protestant priests have gathered to arm themselves with the sword of the holy word, to fight Satan for the souls of their parishioners.
It is a dark art in itself, born out of the dark age. The Catholic Church insists that demonic possession is on the rise.
In 2014, the Vatican officially recognized the ancient ritual of exorcism under canon law and gave formal approval for the formal creation of the International Association of Exorcists.
The Vatican blames the secularization of society (the separation of religion from the state) along with the growing popularity of competing religions, tarot readings, astrology, the internet, and atheism.
And the best way to fix this, in his opinion, is to deal with the "possessed" in direct combat.
