It took science almost 50 years to get a closer look at the dwarf planet Pluto, so we can safely assume that mankind will only have to see the Ninth Planet with its own eyes. However, the truth is that we still need to prove its existence first. Astronomer Michael Brown, who played a key role in the demotion of Pluto to a dwarf planet, recently reported that new evidence has emerged that still speaks in favor of the existence of the Ninth Planet.

Recall that Brown and his colleague Konstantin Batygin determined the presence of a large cosmic body based on the movement of several objects within the Kuiper belt. According to the information received, this object, with its gravity, affects the objects of the Kuiper belt and changes the direction of their movement. Brown recently tweeted a SETI slide showing the presence of another Kuiper belt object (uo3L91), whose motion is subject to the gravity of a larger (and as yet unknown) object, which is potentially this Ninth Planet.

The new Kuiper belt object was discovered by the Canada-France-Hawaii telescope, which is used by scientists to study the outer boundaries of the solar system. As you can see in this slide (above), the newly discovered object is orbiting other cosmic bodies that Brown talked about back in January this year. Yet scientists need to provide even more evidence (and preferably from observation) before the entire scientific community can agree on the actual existence of a planet that orbits the Sun every 10,000 years.
