An exact copy was made for parents from Moscow.

Have you ever wanted to get to know your child before he was born? Technologies do not stand still, and in Yekaterinburg they are sometimes used more than in the capital.

Specialists of the Ural Center for 3D Technologies in Yekaterinburg have created a three-dimensional model of a five-month-old baby based on ultrasound data. A young couple from Moscow made an unusual request to the Ural scientists. They made a plastic figurine in just a day.

Parents-to-be, who want to see the baby as soon as possible, can tactilely get to know the baby and realize their connection with the child, and when they grow up - show how he was before birth.

According to the director of the center, Yuri Pereverzev, the cost of such a figurine varies within two thousand rubles, depending on the amount of materials used.

- The main thing is to get a high-quality ultrasound. It is necessary that the facial features and limbs of the embryo are formed. In this case, the parents will even be able to see who the baby already looks like,”says Yuri.

3D printing is based on generated STL files. They can be obtained by processing ultrasound photographs in a special program, as well as other studies, such as MRI or computed tomography. The model is made of biopolymer plastic. The same printing technologies are used in the manufacture of human bone implants.
