Short-term - a space bombardment, an explosion of a supervolcano, an alien attack, some not entirely logical cataclysms on the Sun. Long-term - a continuous human factor. According to scientists, people worsen the conditions for themselves, destroying both nature and themselves.
In particular, one of the latest studies concerns the deterioration of reproductive function in men. Sperm cells become worse in quality, which, in fact, is often the stronger sex itself and is to blame. The fact is that the reproductive function is greatly impaired due to smoking and a large amount of alcohol.
To some extent, the reason for this is that men from an early age are less pressured to avoid buying cigarettes or drinking, unlike women who are often shamed with the words “you’re a future mother”. Probably, a similar characteristic should be applied to "fathers", limiting at least in time the possibility of "going out for a smoke break", for example, during working hours.
Tobacco, as you know, can lead to lung cancer, but it affects the entire body in general. It disrupts natural functions, in fact, leading to aging of the body, and this, accordingly, although not immediately, but affects the ability to reproduce. Alcohol is no less harmful.
In fact, there is nothing wrong with a one-time use, but if you turn it into a habit, the vessels will not expand, but narrow, which will prevent blood from getting to the corresponding organ. When a man "takes on the chest" too much, then the possibility of engaging in intimacy is extremely small due to problems with the corresponding natural process.

You should definitely go in for sports and not bring yourself to a state of obesity, since corresponding diseases may occur. Thus, it is better to limit yourself in something so that the human population does not decrease so much. Actually, if complete infertility does not occur, then all these factors will negatively affect the children.
The child may have some pathology, congenital defects, or something that will have to be treated for a very long time and for a large amount. A certain group of disabilities is possible. If this does not happen, then the child may be born extremely weak, physically incapable of competing according to the principle of natural selection. It will be more difficult for such children to form a family when they grow up, and if it does, then problems with reproduction are possible. Accordingly, the race may end. In general, there is a gradual degeneration of humanity, especially in developed countries. The institution of marriage here is associated with certain desires, principles, and so on.

Accordingly, climate change will hit them very hard. The third reason is pollution of the environment and water in the first place. Rivers are turning into gutters, there are fewer and fewer places where you can swim without consequences for the body. The quality of fresh water is rapidly deteriorating, and dangerous bacteria and viruses develop in it. Such parasites, penetrating under the human skin, give rise to terrible diseases, which are extremely difficult to cure and not in all cases. There is a need for constant cleaning and filtration, as well as limiting walking areas, since in the case of some bodies of water you cannot even go ashore - you can get infected.
