44-year-old Canadian Trevor Cosens shared with netizens a mysterious and rather frightening story that happened to him about two decades ago.

The man says that he has lived all his life in the small fishing village of Pointe-aux-Utard in the east of the country. The village stands on the shores of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, on the other side of it there is a dense taiga.

In his youth, Trevor often hunted. He had a Scottish Shepherd named Sandy, a very intelligent, loyal and playful dog. And although dogs of this breed are not very suitable for hunting, Sandy often helped his owner to get rabbits, squirrels and other small game.

One fall, Trevor went out to hunt deer and took his pet with him - more for company than for business success. The man got into the van, sat Sandy down next to him, and drove to the family hut, which stood at the edge of the forest by an unmarked road.

Already on the first evening, the hunter noticed the strange behavior of the dog. The dog, whom he made a bed for in the corner of the living room, behaved unusually restlessly. At first, Trevor thought Sandy was disturbed by the sounds of the forest, like the hooting of an owl and the distant howling of a wolf.

At about ten o'clock in the evening the dog turned to the exit and whined pitifully. Trevor opened the door, thinking that his pet was asking for help. However, the animal sat down at the threshold and stared intently into the darkness.

The next day, when the hunter and the dog were making their way through the forest, an unexpected and loud crunch of branches was heard nearby. Sandy tilted his head, bared his teeth and growled into nothingness.

Returning with the owner to the hut, he immediately went to his lounger and did not leave it for almost a day. The dog did not touch the food and all the time, whining, looked at the entrance. At night, Trevor opened the door to throw out the leftovers, and suddenly the dog, jumping up, rushed out with a deafening bark and instantly disappeared into the darkness of the forest. You could hear her barking gradually recede until it died down completely.

Trevor, completely discouraged, grabbed a flashlight and a gun and walked around the hut for several hours, in vain calling for his pet. When dawn broke, the man returned to the house, realizing that he could only wait. If Sandy never returns, he will have to leave alone, since the unfortunate dog may well become a victim of a large predator.

Sandy returned three days later. It turned out to be a foggy evening, and the hunter saw the dog, inadvertently looking out the window. Shrouded in haze, the dog sat on a dirt road and, without stopping, looked towards the house. Overjoyed Trevor opened the door, whistled as usual and shouted: "Sandy, boy, come quickly to me!"

To more accurately describe what happened next, it is better to quote the author:

In the morning, it seemed to the man that Sandy's body had become a little longer. At the sight of the owner, the dog got up and wagged its back part of the body in a strange way. Trevor's heart was heavy, and to unwind, he decided to walk through the forest. At some point, the man noticed that it was unusually quiet around him, as if all the animals and birds had died. The hunter recalled that forest animals tend to leave places where a dangerous and ferocious predator is declared.
