Residents of one of the villages of the Chelyabinsk region have been complaining for a month that centipedes have literally covered their houses and emit an unpleasant smell.

The first complaints about millipedes in the Ozersk village of Metlino began to appear at the end of June. The inhabitants were indignant that the creatures accumulated near the garden houses, frightening people with an unpleasant sight and smell.

What to do? There are a lot of them, even our garden houses are sprinkled with heaps, the smell from them is unpleasant, but what will it be like when they crawl to high-rise apartments ?! After all, one individual brings up to a million of the same,”complained residents of Ozersk.

The local authorities soon became aware of the problem of residents. At the apparatus meeting, which was held in the district administration, it was decided to immediately sort out this problem. The head of the administration, Pavel Kochan, instructed the ecology department to go to the site to find out where these centipedes came from and what to do about it, the website "First Regional" writes.

As you know, centipedes (their other name is kivsaki), live mainly in the forest floor, including in temperate latitudes. The length of adult kivsyaks varies from 2 to 20-25 centimeters. Despite the unpleasant appearance, these arthropods are not dangerous to humans.

It soon became known that centipedes appeared in the region about 50 years ago. They were allegedly brought to Ozersk for land reclamation around the Mayak production association.

Now the number of arthropods has reached the limit, so the problem is being discussed at the highest level.

As local residents say, in the area you can literally meet “herds” of centipedes crawling along the road. The number of kivsyaks is growing due to the fact that they were brought from southern latitudes.

Birds do not eat them, preferring "local" arthropods and insects. As the inhabitants of the lake say, the "invasion" of centipedes began in the 60s of the last century, when they were brought in large quantities to the city district.

The district administration made a decision: the responsibility for this invasion of centipedes should be borne by the very enterprise that brought them here several decades ago.

On July 28, at a staff meeting in the Ozersk urban district, they again returned to the problem of the invasion of centipedes. The municipality carried out an audit with the participation of environmentalists.

In the near future, the administration of Ozersk will turn to the management of PA Mayak. After the environmental impact assessment, it became clear that the natural way to get rid of arthropods will not work. Then they tried to remove the centipedes with the help of chemicals, however, this attempt also failed.

As a result, it was decided to entrust the solution to the enterprise responsible for the import of kivsyaks. - PA Mayak will deal with the problem. So soon the company will have to study arthropods and find a way out of the situation, - said its own source in the Ozersk urban district to the website "First Regional".
