Due to climatic changes, the republic of Kiribati is under water. 32 coral islands have already disappeared into the depths, their inhabitants moved to the largest atoll, where the capital of the country Tarawa is located. But he will soon have the same fate.

The Kiribati authorities planned to build artificial islands based on the technology of floating oil platforms. But it turned out that it was impossible to implement the project - the costs were too high. The president of the sinking country today came up with another, sensational proposal - to buy out territories, about two thousand hectares, from neighbors.

Anote Tong, President of the Republic of Kiribati: “We will be defeated in this fight. The islands plunge into the ocean abyss, we no longer have other options how to buy land from neighboring states. We are currently negotiating with the Fijian authorities on the purchase of the second largest island in the Vanua Levu archipelago."

The population of Kiribati is over one hundred thousand people. And while the Fijian authorities fearfully declare that they are not ready for such an emergency and massive resettlement. If the Kiribatians are refused, they may well move to Australia or New Zealand, but they will have to put an end to the history of their own state.
