John Brandenberg, a senior researcher at spacecraft manufacturer Technologies Corp, said he knows why Mars is red and why there is no life on this planet.

According to the astronomer, a powerful nuclear explosion occurred on Mars about 180 million years ago, which destroyed all life on this planet and turned it into red sand.

According to the scientist, this theory is confirmed by the fact that the surface of Mars “is covered with a thin layer of radioactive substances, including uranium, thorium and potassium. There are many radioactive isotopes in the planet's atmosphere. They were calculated thanks to the latest gamma-ray spectrometry data conducted by NASA. However, everything also indicates that once there was life on Mars, there were oceans, seas and rivers on the planet.

The catastrophe, according to the astronomer scientist, occurred in the northern part of Mars, in the Acidalian Sea, where the highest level of radiation is observed and was of a natural nature. The radiation exposure was equivalent to 1 million hydrogen bombs. After the explosion, red dust rose into the planet's atmosphere, so the sky on Mars is pale pink.

Dr. Brandenberg also believes that a similar tragedy that happened on Earth's cosmic neighbor may one day befall our planet.

Today in the scientific world there are several versions of the causes of the disaster on Mars. According to one of them, the atmosphere of Mars could disappear due to strong bombardment of meteorites. On the other, the planet's atmosphere disappeared due to the solar wind - the flow of charged particles from the Sun, since Mars, not having a powerful magnetic field, like the Earth, which deflects particles of the solar wind, could not resist it.
