Throughout the entire series, we slowly but surely walked towards one ancient tradition, which for some reason they do not like to talk about directly in history, although some ethnographic research is being carried out here and there. Yes, both direct and indirect, thick and subtle hints are contained in myths, fairy tales and rituals. Moreover, there are so many of these clues that only an academic brain obsessed with "worshiping a thundercloud pouring rain" can fail to notice them, and if it does, it will refer to "fictions" and "superstitions", as if the ancestors were so stupid that everyone scraps of their beliefs, once again written down by academics for a secular society (by God, like aliens), could not go beyond natural phenomena. We are told that myths were created to explain the forces of nature, but they are not. And even despite the fact that in the 19-20 centuries.huge and high-quality works were written on the semantics of mythological symbols, the depth of analysis of which now no one dares to repeat, they all rested against the barrier of rejection that the ancestors in their poetry and rituals did not blindly worship "gods", but meant much more by this. That on which culture, worldview, education is based. Well, as if a simple admiration for the "unknown elements" is very stupid. And the ancients understood the "elements" much better than ours, for that matter. Modern researchers generally prefer not to bother and read everything literally from the height of their technological age.but they meant much more. If, say, in the literature it is written about the rite of "making rain", then it may not be about praying to the clouds at all; if they talk about the sacrifice of bulls or, worse, children, then this is not always the case (well, you just give birth to a child first, and then try to sacrifice it, a small one, let's see who turns out to be stronger, “gods” or parental instinct … especially since in a harsh environment, every life counts … like bulls, by the way); If from all the encyclopedic pages we are instilled with the notorious "ancestor cult", then be sure that scientists did not understand it at the proper level and now everything that looks like this topic is boldly attributed to the "ancestor cult", taking only the outer part. Simply, brushing aside, like "a, well, this is the cult of ancestors …", as if this should totally explain something. How, in fact,no one has finally figured out such a complex philosophical concept as "Genus", referring it again only to the "cult of ancestors". Although the idea here is more ambitious …

I'm interested in the details of all this and the ways of expressing them in world folklore. And here, of course, there is a huge field for research, because, although many symbols and myths say the same thing, the number of nuances is off scale, and the same motives can be viewed from different angles, revealing new aspects.

So, following the symbol of the future "prince", as the head of the clan (which in the ancient world was also a full-fledged "corporation"), and for the time being a young groom - a horse that walks at Christmas time in the company of Dionysian red maidens dressed in houses with the aim of to snatch one of them, I reached the "place of birth" of this horse - the patrimonial mound. From epics and fairy tales, we know that it is the "woman" (the mound itself) that gives the young man this mythical violent horse, which is a kind of blessing and parting word. This horse is not simple, but is associated with the afterlife, and earlier it served the young man's ancestor.

We also found out in the previous part that this mound was associated with the "woman's womb", the womb. And in this part we will continue this topic in order to understand what is hidden under the "parting words" itself, and why in fairy tales it is Baba (Yaga) who shows the way to the hero.

I will try to be very laconic and not chew on every symbol, you can still write separate huge articles on them and twist-twirl them, as it is supposed to be for real symbols. Here we aim at revealing one specific narrow topic.

We will start with the Scandinavian saga about Helga Kjörvardovich.

Helgi on the mound

The topic of the Valkyries is a separate conversation, and we will not raise it here. But it won't hurt us to talk about the mounds.

After all, what we see: a nameless young man, sits on the mound, where his contact with the Valkyrie took place, which gave him a name and indicated the future, becoming his "guardian angel" … Yes, yes, I said everything correctly, because in Christian countries they gave name for children? - correctly, according to the calendar, in honor of the holy guardian angels. Identically? And how! Further: guardian angels are associated with the heavenly army - holy people who remained faithful to the spirit, fought for the faith. And the Valkyries, too, in their own way, but are associated with the heroes loyal to the gods.

Well, do not forget that the barrow-"Babylon" was also built in order to MAKE YOURSELF A NAME. I mean, name yourself and find your destiny. Which is what happened, apparently, because the peoples then dispersed along their OWN paths.

As it was written in our fairy tales, "Ivan Tsarevich set off on a journey-road" … After all, in fact, Valkyrie also showed Helga the WAY. And it took place on the mound …

The Kurgan is a rather complex image, and I will show only part of it. And you may be surprised what characters will help me in this, because in addition to the obvious ones, there will also be those on which no one from a decent society would have thought that THEY ARE DOING THIS TOO)))

Moses on Mount Sinai

Already at the beginning of "Exodus" (chapter 3), when Moses was still "no one to call him," a "burning thorn bush" happens to him:

Everything is the same as in our and Scandinavian fairy tales: there is a “mountain” burial, from which the hero will receive his destiny. It seems to me that a simple Greek-Russian "mountain" is supposedly hidden under the Jewish proper name "Khoriv". And further:

That is, that Moses himself received his destiny on "God's mountain", which subsequently gave his whole people a new destiny, along with the covenants from the mountain.

God appears here the same as all the main father-deities before him - a thunderer. You will find this stable combination of the Thunderer, the father and the mountain in almost any ancient and not very religion:

Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, depicting the FOUNDING FATHERS carved into MOUNTAIN, USA - is the same mythologeme, no matter what they say

And here it is rather curious that in Christianity the idea of a heavenly god-father has also spilled over into the idea of paradise as something heavenly. Although until quite recently there was no such thing as “heavenly paradise”, but there was just a Navi world, lying on the other side of visible existence, in which underground motives were easily combined with heavenly ones. For it does not matter for "that" world where it lies, since it does not correspond to our geography.

So, our Ivan does not care how to get to the otherworldly kingdom: in one version of the tale of the three kingdoms, he climbs a mountain to get to the "nav", and in another, parallel, he goes down "under the stone", in the third - he climbs a mountain, and then descends into a hole. In all cases, he does not return back from the ground, but simply, as it were, from a distant country.

Garden of Eden

Alice, to get to Wonderland, runs after the white rabbit, which leads her to his Burrow. Already several times researchers have paid attention to the fact that this tale is, so to speak, half-shamanic, well … or hallucinogenic. And this is not accidental at all. In any ethnographic record about the shaman's rituals, you will find an indication that the shaman, in order to descend into “that” world, is looking for a mystical hole or hole. Likewise Dante, who "having passed half of his earthly life, ended up in a dark forest," enters Hell as if through a special passage.

And why? Yes, because these are all psychological references to the experience of birth and passage through the birth canal. Yes, yes, do you remember that the mound-mountain is the womb? The Kurgan is the place of the dead. The womb is the place of unborn children. In the ancient concept, there is no difference between these two places: the souls of children live in the same place as the souls of the dead.

Therefore, in order to connect with “that” world, one must literally make “mother, give birth to me back”. After all, it is in this universal womb that all the ancestors and all descendants are located, who were glorified in the 20th century during the Radunitsa or Krasnaya Gorka right in the cemeteries that replaced the mounds.

That is why the Lord says to Moses, "I am the God of your father … I will send you." Since this is all about the fatherly hereditary tradition (path) that the youth carries after the dead, where the concept of "Aryanism" and the like came from. That is why Danilo the hero gives a blessing to his son on the mound. Therefore, the father gives Ivan an infernal sivka-burka on the grave with the words "as you served me, now serve your son."

And before the idea of hellish punishment penetrated into folklore, there was no difference between hell and heaven. There was only a "womb". The only thing is that not all souls ended up in the cathedral of saints, the special ancestors of mankind.

In the article about Jason, I already pointed out this fact, speaking about the connection of the symbols of the golden or black rune with the fruit. Now is the time to clarify that the fleece is another symbol of the womb. Even outwardly, the ram looks as if it is “wrapped” in a fleece, like a bag.

A little play on words with the "rune":

Sanskrit: ऊर्ण - urn - wool; ऊर्णायु - urnayu - woolen, sheep, blockhead, spider, woolen blanket, ram; ऊर्णावत् - urnavat - abundant with wool, having wool, woolly, spider. But we all know another “urn”, Latin, which is “urna” - “vessel, vase; burial urn ". So it turns out that "vessel, vase" + "wool" - this is our fleece-womb, container (like the above-mentioned blockhead), bag … In fairness it should be noted that the Greeks use "dermis" instead of "rune", that is, "skin". What is "leather", I also analyzed for a long time, and there the meaning is partially in the same "bag". And we will return to this shortly.

It is not for nothing that in Russian songs the black fleece hangs on the Family Tree, which folklorists called "World", not really understanding what "Rod" is, and acts as a nest, since it is in it that a new life is born. And this is the same tree from which Adam and Eve tasted, but we will consider apples somehow in another series, although their motive is very much in common with ours. And if the Bible writers were a little more honest, they would not hide one important fact: Eve is a real keeper of the tree with a "sinful" fruit, and not just a curious Barbara. This is its natural function, like the Scandinavian Idunn, the Greek Hesperides, the Russian Blue-eyed Bogatyrka, etc. And if we talk about this, then compare the apple role and the name of Eve with the ancient Hebe, pouring nectar to the gods …

At the same time, we remember from the descriptions of the "hellish" horse given in one of the previous parts, which is buried together with the owner in the barrow, which eventually brings the deceased to paradise:

This moment, like the tradition of Eve, makes me turn to such a stable Catholic construction as the "Hortus conclusus".

This term was introduced to distinguish in a special group of paintings and icons depicting the Virgin Mary. Hortus conclusus is an indoor garden. Well, and it is clear that in these pictures Mary is sitting in the garden:

From Wikipedia:

But where there is a "Catholic" tradition … Take any Slavic round dance song, and there will definitely be a girl's association with a garden:

You yourself understand that the siskin-fawn here is a "dear friend" of the girl, which is compared to a green garden. Yet:

And this garden not only points to the girl, but quite definitely refers to her bosom, since in folk songs the garden is not only the abode of the virgin, but also the meeting place with the young man:

Oh, so much information! Raspberry-viburnum-currant is a very stable description of a bride or a young wife, or love pleasures. And now remember the "Kalinov Bridge" or "Smorodina River", which are in "that" world and through which the hero enters the kingdom of Navi. And we already know that the Navier kingdom is located in a mound. And the mound is the womb. So everything was closed on the Maiden-Kalina-Sad. "The locked garden is my sister, the bride, the locked well, the sealed fountain."

So the biblical Eden is the Garden of Eden, the keeper of which is Eve. Young singers meet in the garden, often under a tree. And where did Eve and Adam sin with us?

Image

Under a tree, a fig tree. And this is the same tree that became "World". And they sang about him in Russia:

Since any family tree begins with the marriage bed, which here is the meeting place for young lovers:

Yet:

And more in detail:

It is not for nothing that love Christmas songs were called "grapes". By the way, I spoke a little about the "falcons" in a special chapter - about the Gamayuns. Well, and, as we see, the maiden tears the grapes, and then underneath it meets the "falcon" who takes her away in marriage.

Well, and excellent advice from a parent to his son for a wedding: "Love like a soul, shake like a pear." I love it … Memorize for wedding toasts!

There are a lot of examples. The connection of the girl and her cherished bosom with the garden, berries, trees … All this gave rise to the Catholic Hortus conclusus. And already this image gave Europe magnificent parks like Versailles.

Do you know who is disturbing the peace of this garden? Everything is like in Ossetian legends, where a horse runs into the Garden of Eden:

The case smells like treason, but the symbolism is still the same. Do you remember from the first part about centaurs how a young groom, disguised as a horse, and his mythical prototype, a centaur, behave? Bursts into the house, everything crashes around:

Or the opposite:

In one of my not very successful articles, I hinted that the epic about Troy is built around a wedding dance motive. So, it's time for "I told you." After all, Troy is essentially the same "Hortus conclusus" with an unbreakable wall. But who destroyed it? Aha, HORSE! Moreover, with heroes on board, who entered the epics from the images of matchmakers and grooms.

Well, a horse once ran into the "closed garden" of the Virgin Mary. Only he was recorded as unicorns (apparently, the symbol of the horn is also here for a reason):

The plot is very famous. And it is inextricably linked with the "Garden". Here's a description from Wikipedia:

The interpretation is, of course, so-so. But we remember that in Ashvamedha the horse is eventually killed, the Centaurs are also tamed, just like the mummed horse is tamed. Here, too, the unicorn is tamed by the Virgin … Mary. That is "Hippodamia". Moreover, the Unicorn rushes into the "closed garden" of the Virgin. Although here the whole storm lies in the hands of Gabriel, the essence is the same. Compare this formidable image with the song:

And yes … It's not for nothing that the groom and the horses are so formidable and violent. And most likely there is no coincidence that we called the Unicorn "Indrik", which is so similar to the formidable Indra … But more on that another time … I do not specifically focus here on other versions of the "disturbers" of the sacred garden, which are mentioned in our songs much more often than horses.

But we were directly distracted by kilometers from the main topic, my friends, and left the pre-wedding ritual for the wedding. After all, here the horse is already raging with might and main, and we must talk about the time when the groom just gets this infernal creature.

The fact is that the essence is the same everywhere, and my explanation of Paradise as the same womb as the "afterlife" was necessary here. It is not without reason that Paradise is so closely associated with Eve, and the Closed Garden of Paradise - with Mary … With Moira, to put it bluntly. Do you feel what it smells like?
