In response to what some people call the "artificial stupidity" of artificial intelligence, the Google team launched a project to study artificial intelligence, humans and their relationships.
At the head of the project are two data visualization experts, their goal is to create a “skeleton” of future AI, which will be less awkward, will make fewer mistakes and better communicate with humans.
In reality, experts hope to come up with a new type of interface (or at least a design for it) that will improve the interaction between AIs and their owners.

The team notes three areas in which the research is focusing:
- how to make it easier for engineers to build AI;
- how AI can help the work of professionals, for example, in healthcare;
- how AI can be used in teaching.
The path to success, according to the authors of the project, in this case is to study not only AI, but also what exactly people expect from artificial intelligence.
In addition, it is important to educate people in the correct communication with artificial intelligence. This way, we can get positive, accurate answers from AI, rather than confusing expressions.
How do we see artificial intelligence?
To gain understanding from humans, developers need to uncover the mystery of AI creation, make decision-making and find answers more understandable to the general public.
The fact is that at this stage, people who do not understand how virtual intelligence algorithms work, consider the existence of AI as a scientific witchcraft, it is not clear how it came to our world.
This is why many people become so wary or outright scared when an AI correctly diagnoses a disease. For the same reason, many people are ready to mock primitive AIs for hours, asking them “overwhelming” simple tasks like creating a non-threatening motivational poster.
For many people, AI is only in two states: artificial stupidity, that is, small children making stupid mistakes and incorrectly performing the simplest tasks, or artificial intelligence, that is, frightening incomprehensible creatures with superpowers.
A look into the future
Google's new project aims to improve the interaction between AI and humans.
One fairly straightforward step towards achieving your goal is to explain. For example, at the request of a person, artificial intelligence can explain the decision-making process: what is it guided by, where it gets the information from and what it takes into account in the first place. Thus, the work of AI will become more transparent and understandable to humans.
This is important, because there is no longer any doubt that the future is closely related to artificial intelligence, and the better we humans learn to understand it, the easier, calmer and safer our coexistence will be.
