Entrepreneur Elon Musk, in an interview during the Code 2016 conference, answered the question of how he evaluates the success of Google and Facebook in terms of artificial intelligence. Musk noted that he sympathizes with only one company, but did not specify which one. Then he moved on to the story about the non-profit organization Open AI, which he founded last year. Its goal is the creation and development of friendly artificial intelligence.

The decision to create this NGO, according to Musk, was not motivated by a desire to compete with others. The idea is much more global and humane - to provide people with a future in which they will not live under the hood of a powerful and evil computer ruler - this, of course, falls under the concept of the foundation. According to him, people of the future and artificial intelligence should closely interact, ahead of the capabilities of a modern person by several orders of magnitude.

“The development of technologies associated with artificial intelligence should not be scary,” says Musk, “its presence and evolution does not necessarily mean that in the future we will all get something like Skynet (the corporation from the Terminator movie series that enslaved humanity. - author's note)).

Musk is confident that the work on the development of artificial intelligence, which is now being carried out by many companies, only increases the likelihood that everything will be fine in the future. The founder of Open AI gave an interesting example: if in the future everyone can connect an artificial intelligence-avatar to their minds, which in turn will be integrated into a special network that unites them, when trying to commit an illegal action, other man-made intellectual programs will be able to stop him.

During the discussion, Musk noted that control over artificial intelligence should not be left in the hands of a couple of large companies and welcomed the tenacity of the developers working in this area.

The interview with Elon Musk turned out to be very extensive. At the Code Conference 2016, the hosts discussed with him many topics related to the activities of Space X, Tesla and other projects. The businessman spoke about his vision of the near future in terms of space exploration, colonization of Mars and said that he would not mind going to orbit, which he was thinking about in the next five years.
