Employees at the University of Copenhagen have amassed a huge collection of mutant creatures. The exhibits include a one-eyed pig and a four-legged duck. But the cyclops horse was the first example of such an anomaly in the past 30 years. Danish scientists are perplexed and cannot understand that this is a special mutation or something more sinister?
The Cyclops foal was born in Zeeland last summer and died immediately. The corpse was proposed by scientists from the University of Copenhagen so that the animal's head should be properly studied, the website "Mirror" transmitted.
Professor Henrik Elwang Jensen believes that just one eye with two pupils is the result of "severe defects" in the foal's nervous system.
“People are mesmerized by these mutations because it reveals the diversity of biology. This shows that nature can act in very strange ways. By the way, such changes can take place in all animals, and even in humans, the biologist noted.
Researchers have still not established what caused this eye anomaly. But one thing is clear - live cyclops will not be able to see. The brain defects that accompany one-eyed are incompatible with life.
