American scientists have named the time frame when the Earth's atmosphere will become unsuitable for the prolonged presence of mammals, in particular humans, in the open air without additional means of protection or shelter. The study is available at arXiv.org.

If the current consumption of energy by civilization continues, then finding a person in the open air will become impossible in 2200-2400, the authors believe. This forecast remains valid in the event of a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, since the absorption of energy by civilization will still increase the equilibrium temperature of the planet, as well as a decrease in the population, which should begin by 2100.

The scientists' conclusions are based on the work of climatologists Stephen Sherwood and Matthew Huber, who showed that a wet bulb temperature above 35 degrees Celsius leads to hyperthermia in mammals, in particular humans, as well as estimates of the rate of global warming.

US meteorologists predict wet bulb temperatures in parts of the Persian Gulf such as Qatar, UAE and Iran will reach 35 degrees Celsius between 2071 and 2100. The risk zone includes, in particular, the cities of Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.

The temperature of the wet bulb is taken by the water evaporating into the air at the end of the process. This parameter is measured by a psychrometer. The human body is cooled mainly by evaporation of liquid from its surface. In the event of a critical value of the wet bulb temperature, this will become impossible.
