The unexpected find surprised local archaeologists. For several weeks in the area of the Patriarch's Gardens, exploration archaeological work has been going on at the site of the future construction site.
According to historians working at the excavation, most of the finds date back to the period of the developed Middle Ages. A significant part of the artifacts found are the remains of ceramic products. Also, mass graves were discovered.
The skeleton of a woman of colossal size, by the standards of the Middle Ages, has attracted special attention of archaeologists.
- Female bone remains have been found in soybeans dating from the thirteenth century. Presumably, they belonged to a nun, since in the Middle Ages a nunnery was located on the investigated territory, says Ivan Mukhin.
According to the archaeologist, the skeleton is about 183 centimeters long. This fact is extremely curious, since in the Middle Ages, the growth of people was much less than that of our contemporaries.
- I would venture to suggest that this woman died of some serious illness, since the bones were significantly mutilated. However, until anthropologists have done their research, we cannot be absolutely sure of anything.
Excavations are held annually in Vladimir. Often they are of an intelligence nature, since the law requires an archaeological study of the territory on which construction work is planned. This law applies to the entire territory of the historical part of the city.
