In the United States, a three-year-old boy can easily move furniture, lift three-kilogram dumbbells and other weights. However, such incredible strength for a child of his age is due not to daily training, but, unfortunately, a rare genetic disease
According to Dr. Jennifer Ashton, who examined the boy, he is believed to be suffering from hypertrophied muscle disease caused by a rare mutation in the myostatin gene. This means that the baby has increased muscle fibers that make him extremely strong. The first case of such a disease was reported in Germany in 2000 in another boy.
Due to the accelerated metabolism, the child needs constant energy intake, for this reason, he eats densely six times a day. According to Dr. Ashton, the boy's muscles are so strong that even when he falls, he does not feel pain.
Scientists hope to find out what causes these reactions in the boy's body and help him. This research could also further improve the health of people with cancer, heart disease and HIV.
