Or the "curse" overtook its victim not in the first, but in the next presidential term. This is exactly what happened to William McKinley and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who were elected in non-zero years (McKinley in 1896 and Roosevelt in 1932). But they were re-elected in the zero-ending years (McKinley for a second term in 1900, and Roosevelt for a third in 1940). And as you know, McKinley was killed in 1901 and Roosevelt died in 1945.

Thus, during all eight last "conjunctions" of Jupiter and Saturn (with the exception of one), American presidents died in their offices, and the United States and other countries plunged into economic and social chaos!
