However, whether this is really so, no one can say, because for more than 100 years there has been a huge number of discussions about the nature of a celestial body, its origin, etc. One thing is known for sure: after the fall of the meteorite, many trees were destroyed, many animals died, the upper sphere of the earth was destroyed. Fragments of the same celestial body have not been found so far.
Scientists from Italy were the first to suggest the location of the meteorite. They voiced their version, the essence of which is that the Tunguska meteorite is located at the bottom of Lake Cheko. It is because of the huge pit created as a result of subsidence that the lake was formed. However, Russian scientists have refuted this theory, since the reservoir is much older than their Italian counterparts suggest. If a meteorite penetrated the Earth's atmosphere 109 years ago, then the lake is no less than 200.
But the locals, after the fall of the meteorite, suggested that they were punished for the sins of the deity. In this case, the pagan gods, after a little over 100 years, the story of the Tunguska meteorite became a local legend, which is still believed.
Researchers from Italy have put forward another version. They studied the memories of local residents who witnessed the fall: they heard pops and a rumble, similar to cannon shots. One Siberian recalls how he began to choke and felt a sharp fever, after which his clothes caught fire. The shock wave from the meteorite knocked him down, and he rolled several meters along the ground. It was these data that gave rise to the birth of a new version: there were two Tunguska meteorites. Some exploded, the other fell to the bottom of Lake Cheko. Other experts suggested that the meteorite could have broken into small fragments and ended up at the bottom of several bodies of water.

Local scholars did not want to tell the truth, since the legend of the Lord's punishment was beneficial for the majority. For villages near this area, a stone from the sky meant too much to debunk the legend with the help of science. Although he did not specify which one. According to the scientist, some facts were previously deliberately falsified. Many researchers turned a blind eye to the angle of incidence of the object, its trajectory, etc. Moreover, many scientific papers deliberately distorted data that can be measured even now. Question: why was it done? And who benefits from hiding the truth from the public. After all, this story is already many years old.

So far, no department can spend resources to search for that very meteorite, the scientist said. However, it is quite possible that in the near future specialists will deal with this issue, and we will learn new details about the Tunguska meteorite.
