Meteorologists cannot explain the nature of the mysterious phenomenon.

Clouds are usually shapeless. And what shape can a steam hover in the sky have? Nevertheless, it appears from time to time. The clouds become square, astonishing observers with their smooth edges.

Recently, a cloud hovered at a right angle over the American city of Tucson in the state of Arizona (Tuscon, Arizona), got on video and spread massively on Facebook and YouTube. Along the way, it turned out that similar "flying carpets" - as square clouds are sometimes called - appeared in other places. They began to be noticed since 2008. Photographed from the surface, from above - from an aircraft, even from space - from the ISS. But no explanation was found for the mysterious phenomenon.

Meteorologists told something about a collision of a cold front with drier and warmer air, as a result of which a straight edge of the cloud can appear. But how do two edges converge at a 90-degree angle? Or even all four? There were no answers to these questions and there are still no answers.

Ufologists sin on aliens. Like, they signal to us like that - with square clouds. Conspiracy theorists blame the American military - specifically the HAARP (High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) installation, allegedly created by the Pentagon for climate control. It is suspected that it is periodically used as a climate weapon, causing weather cataclysms of this or that strength on the planet.

The HAARP antenna field, which sends microwave pulses into the sky, is spread over a square of several hectares. By the logic of conspiracy theorists, it also gives the clouds an appropriate square shape. But how? Again, no one explains.

Meteorologists seem to have solved the mystery of the appearance of small square clouds. At least, they offered a very logical explanation for the "flying carpet" that hung on May 27, 2017 over the city of Exeter in the English county of Devonshire (Exeter, Devon).

From the explanation it followed that the rectangular cloud was formed by the contrail of the aircraft and the wind that blew perpendicular to it - this very track. The wind and "smeared" the track with an even layer. In the form of a rectangle.

But how do huge rectangular cloud fields form? Riddle …
