This is the legend. Once in Egypt, a certain admirer of him visited Napoleon. Of course, incognito, but with a hint of Polish origin … Obviously, the illustrious general was glad to meet him: the noble Polish woman stayed at his place. So that the lady would not get bored, the owner, distracted from the important military leadership's concerns, allowed himself to ride with the guest on horseback in the direction of exotic pyramids … They went to one of these promenades only together, without accompanying persons. And it was necessary that this time a strong sandstorm broke out. The horsemen did not return, and the search did not lead to anything …
The top of the generals did not want complications in this already unsuccessful military adventure. And here, as they say, the beast is running to the catcher … The attention of the close associates of the missing commander was attracted by his clever and agile double, whom Napoleon kept with him for security purposes, in case someone had the idea to make an attempt on him … So by the way, the double who turned up so got used to the role that he played it until the very end …
But for the ascended and successful emperor, one legend was not enough. At the sunset of his star, there was also another double … They even called his real name - François Eugene Robo (he supposedly even had a nickname - "emperor", for an amazing resemblance).
When the time of Napoleon's exile to the island of St. Helena came, they remembered Robo. A royal special agent was dispatched to the village where he returned and ordered to keep an eye on the emperor's double. But there was some kind of oversight or bribery - the imagination of fiction writers can finish the details, only Robo disappeared without a trace in 1818, leaving his house and household … Meanwhile, in the church archive of Robo's native village, there seems to be a record that he was born here, and died … on Saint Helena!
There seems to be a letter from the commandant of St. Helena, dated 1818, in which he confidentially reports that Napoleon left the island … And according to the testimony of those who visited the ex-emperor that year, it seemed to them that something strange was happening to him … So, he began to forget some facts of his life, his handwriting changed … No, there is no direct evidence that Robo replaced the emperor in captivity. But suspicions remained … As well as vague versions that the death was "played" by a double, and Napoleon himself disappeared from the island in an unknown direction …
The very death of Napoleon is also a mystery. In 2009, a team of pathologists from the San Francisco Department of Forensic Medicine suggested that the real cause of death was not cancer or poisoning, as previously thought, but … "overzealousness" of doctors. This idea prompted them to study various documents concerning the death of the emperor, for example, the autopsy protocols.
Team leader Dr. Stephen Karch said that Bonaparte's doctors who treated stomach cancer gave him large doses of a drug that included antimony, potassium and tartar. The drug was supposed to make him vomit, which the doctors found beneficial to the patient. They also gave him an enema regularly. This led to a deficiency of potassium in the body and, as a result, to heart disease and restriction of blood flow to the brain, which was the cause of death.

In fact, this substance, most likely, was part of the medicine, which in the end brought Bonaparte to the grave … If, of course, it really was the great commander himself …
But back to the Egyptian find. As you remember, two skeletons were found near the pyramids - a man and a woman, as well as the remains of two horses. Moreover, people and animals died already in the period of modern history … But what if the legend about the death of Bonaparte and his guest in a sandstorm is true and instead of a native of Corsica, his double won military victories and ruled France, which was then, in turn, replaced by another double? Where is the truth? Who then died on the island of St. Helena and where did the real Napoleon go, or the one who was mistaken for the emperor for a long time? True, we should not forget that we are dealing with just one of the many historical myths …
