The account of Louis in French history dates back to the son of Charlemagne, the French emperor Louis the Pious. He is considered Louis 1. Three years after his death, in 843, the Frankish Empire, created by Charlemagne, split into three more parts - France, Germany and Italy. King Louis 2 of France reigned from 877 to 879, and the last king, Louis 18 (died 1824).
It is very interesting that many of the French Louis kings had a nickname. So, Louis 2 had the nickname stutterer, Louis 3 - Overseas, Louis 5 - Lazy, Louis 6 - Fat, Louis 7 - the Younger, Louis 9 - Saint, Louis 10 - Grumpy, and the best nickname went to Louis 14 - King - of the sun.
Among Louis, only four can be considered outstanding statesmen. Louis 14 reigned the longest - 72 years, but Louis 17 did not reign at all, he was only considered a pretender to the throne, but unfortunately died at the age of ten.
