New research may support the theory that smart people spend far more time idling than those who work physically. Sixty volunteers were invited to test, who had to pass several tests.

Scientists from the United States conducted a study according to which people with high levels of mental activity spend time in vain. According to experts, such representatives are simply bored with work over time, and they are immersed in their thoughts. At the same time, people with an active lifestyle, who have to physically work in enterprises, use almost all of their time for mental activity.

The author of the study notes that smart people have a need to learn something new, so performing identical actions over time becomes boring. If, however, representatives, adapted to physical labor, may simply not engage in other matters, considering them difficult or with no need to perform. To confirm this theory, 60 volunteers were invited, half of whom had high levels of mental activity. For seven days, participants were asked to wear a device on their wrist that reads all data about a person's activity.

As a result of the experiment, it turned out that smart participants were much more likely to mess around and lead an inactive lifestyle than other representatives. But it's worth noting that people with vigorous daily activities were more likely to use their brains to solve problems.
