House from the past
It happened in Wiltshire (South West England). A young girl named Edna Hadges rode a bike to her friend's house. When the deserted road led her to the outskirts of Swindon, a thunderstorm began pouring down. Edna was instantly wet through and through. Suddenly, near the very road, she saw a lonely house under a thatched roof, smoke billowing over its chimney. Drenched and chilled, the girl knocked on the door.
An elderly tall man opened it to her. Without a word, he let the unexpected guest into the house. It was warm and cozy there, a fire burned merrily in the fireplace. Despite the owner's stubborn silence, Edna was very grateful for the shelter. Fortunately, this allowed her to dry out and warm up.

When she finally reached her friend, she met other guests there, also drenched, as they were traveling along the same road. When they listened to Edna's story, they said that there was no house in this place - only one abandoned ruin. Being very intrigued, the girl went back the same way. And what did she see? In the place where the silent owner let her into his warm home, there was now an old foundation, the path to which was overgrown with thick weeds …
