City of Gortyna
The history of the ancient city of Gortyn goes back many millennia. Interestingly, only a small part of it has been excavated. Most of Gortyna now belongs to private individuals, and olive groves grow on the ancient ruins, and archaeologists do not have access to these places. This photo shows olive groves in the place of Gortyna.
The photo below shows the remains of Gortyna taken with a large magnification on a private territory.
However, what is available to scientists and tourists is amazing. Perfect structures of the past and mysterious stone products evoke thoughts of high technology.
