An eight-year-old boy from India, whose arms have grown to incredible sizes and now weigh 8 kilograms each, puzzled doctors - they admit that they do not know how to help him.

Eight-year-old Kalim from India cannot lead the same lifestyle as his peers because of the huge arms weighing 16 kilograms. The boy, unable to cope with even such simple tasks as tying shoelaces, was forced to give up school.

“I don't go to school because the teacher says that other children are afraid of my hands. Many of them mock me because of my ugliness and urge others: "Let's beat that one with big hands." Some of them actually beat and persecuted me, - describes what happened at the Kalim school. "It was especially hard for me there, because I can't button the buttons on my shirt or pull up my pants."

The eight-year-old admits that he would like to get rid of giant limbs, but is afraid of surgery and injections.

“I don't even know if I want the doctors to take care of my hands. They will have to make me unconscious, and then cut me open,”he says. “It wouldn't be a problem if they could do it without injections. And it would be nice if it was a small operation."

His parents, who make $ 25 a month, tried to find a specialist to help their son, but their efforts were unsuccessful. They are afraid that because of the huge hands, their child will not be able to take care of themselves and will not be able to earn a living.

“Even eating becomes a problem for him - he cannot clench his fingers and take food. Therefore, we have to do it for him, - says the boy's father, 45-year-old Shamin. - Although with the help of three fingers he is able to lift some things, and he manages to drink water on his own. We would like to take him to the hospital, but our business is so bad that my wife had to beg for alms."

Despite financial difficulties, the married couple still managed to show Kalima to the doctor, but their hopes for the early healing of the child were not destined to come true - the specialist who saw the huge limbs only threw up his hands in bewilderment.

The director of the local hospital, Dr. Ratan, was also unable to diagnose.

“As far as I know, this is a very rare condition, and I have not seen anything like it in medical journals or on the Internet,” he told reporters. "Until we do genetic testing, we won't be able to say exactly what is causing this deformation."

The same opinion is shared by pediatrician Krishan Chag from the research institute in Gurgaon, who got acquainted with pictures of the 16-kilogram hands of an eight-year-old child.

“Without proper examination and medical tests, I cannot figure out what it is. Perhaps I see a lymphangioma (benign tumor) in front of me that can be treated,”the specialist concluded.

The words of the pediatrician gave new hope to Kalim's parents and they began to collect donations for his treatment.
