Baikal is beautiful. It is not for nothing that Siberians call it not a lake, but the sea - what a lake it is, with such and such an area! One can see through the unusually clear water of Lake Baikal as well as through ordinary air. But there are also secrets here, most of which scientists are unable to solve. Icy hills
These hills appear only on the ice of Lake Baikal. They were discovered in the 1930s, but the specialists of the Baikal Limnological Station still do not understand the nature of the appearance of hollow ice hills inside.
Mirages
Mirages can be found not only in deserts, but also in the vastness of Lake Baikal. Locals often see castles, wrecks and entire islands here. Scientists believe that the water of the lake remains cold in the depths even in hot summer - at such a time, the difference between different densities of air layers refracts the sun's rays in a special way, frightening people with unprecedented pictures.

Devil's funnel
With complete calm on the lake, a huge whirlpool can suddenly form, which has received the name of the "devil's funnel" from local residents. Most likely, there are many local dips at the bottom of Lake Baikal, which can quickly fill with water, forming a whirlpool on the surface.
Baikal triangle
Here scientists simply shrug their shoulders: there is indeed an anomalous zone on the lake where electrical devices fail. We have collected a lot of evidence of mysterious glowing balls plunging directly into the water, and instantly changing weather. None of this lends itself to formal explanation.
Ice rings
The rings, the diameter of which reaches several kilometers, were formed on the ice of Lake Baikal in 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2009. You can only see them from space. Most likely, methane emissions are to blame for their appearance, but this is not certain.
Witch's circles
On the Baikal island of Olkhon, smooth circles of grass, as if measured by a compass, periodically appear. There is no explanation for the phenomenon yet, except that ufologists believe (as always) that in summer it is here that aliens flock here.
Glowing water
In fact, any water is a source of light. True, it is almost impossible to notice this with the naked eye. Distilled water hardly glows, tap water fades out quickly.
