The crystal skull exists - this is a fact, it means that someone made it, but what kind of people were they? Could humanity, at the dawn of its development, achieve such a significant technological breakthrough to do such a thing? The question arises, if not a person made this item, then who? Modern science has no answers on this matter.
One of the unsolved mysteries of archeology is the discovery of a crystal skull. The artifact itself is strange, its purpose and the method of its manufacture are unknown, the time of origin can be established rather conditionally. But even greater mystery to this case is betrayed not by an isolated case of the discovery of such objects. Such items are found not only in South America, but all over the world. Finding the crystal skull
The first skull was found in 1927 during the excavation of the ruins of the ancient city of Lubaantum. While exploring one of the city's many altars, the daughter of archaeologist Albert Mitchell-Hedges discovered a skull made from a single piece of rock crystal. The artifact was found under a huge amount of debris. Amazingly, despite the time, it didn't have any scratches or damage. Initially, it was found without the lower jaw, which was subsequently recovered near the site of the discovery of the first part of the artifact. It was attached to the skull on suspended movable hinges and, at the slightest touch, began to move. The weight of the entire structure was 5 kilograms. However, the greatest admiration was caused by the empty eye sockets of the skull, unknown masters managed to create an amazing thing, everyone who looked into the holes of these eye sockets,as if plunged into a light trance and froze in front of him plunged into mystical dreams.
Soon the find acquired a rather dark fame, because some time after the artifact was found, various accidents began to occur in the camp. The first to notice this, the daughter of Mr. Mitchell-Hedges, who discovered the mystical effect of the artifact on a person. One day she put it near her bed and all night long she had realistic dreams, where she saw the life of the Indians, their wars and bloody rituals. Similar dreams were repeated the next night, only after the skull was removed from the girl's room, the visions stopped.
For several decades, the artifact was kept in the family of Albert Mitchell-Hedges, but in 1943 it appeared at an auction at Sotheby's. The most interesting thing is that it was bought by Albert Mitchell-Hedges for 400 pounds. The question arises, why was this done? The archaeologist himself explains it this way. He borrowed 200 pounds from his friend Bernie, the skull acted as collateral and after he could not repay the debt on time, Bernie put it up for auction, where the owner bought it. The question is, if Mr. Mitchell-Hedges had no money to repay the debt, where did he get the money to buy the artifact? In the period from 1964 to 1970, the famous art critic Frank Dorland worked on the study of this artifact. He found that the skull was made from one piece of rock crystal, which is distinguished by its hardness. The artifact has excellent balance, balanced towards the center of gravity of the subject. With a slight touch or just a breath of wind, the lower jaw begins to move immediately. In the skull itself, various lenses, prisms and channels were made, the meaning of which the researcher could not determine.
Once Frank was working with an artifact near the fireplace, turning the artifact towards the fire, he almost fainted, it turns out that the lenses were installed in such a way as to collect light and transmit it to the artifact's eye sockets. Amazingly, even when viewed under a microscope, the entire surface was perfectly flat. Examination has established that the skull is over 12,000 years old. Let's remember the history, the Mayan civilization arose only in 2,400 BC. As one of the experts who studied the artifact put it: "This thing should not exist." But another question arises, who created this thing? Could primitive man really work with such hard rocks and had such ideal tools? No answer!
Scientists have calculated that it would take more than 7,000,000 hours of work to make it, if you work around the clock, it is about 800 years, and if you work 12 hours a day, it will take 1,600 years. Moreover, the hardness of the object is such that it can only be processed with the help of a diamond.

In search of a clue
The crystal skull became a real sensation for the entire scientific world; not only archaeologists, but also ethnographers became interested in this artifact, who began to look for at least some mention of this mysterious object. It was soon discovered that in the legends of the Indians, a mention of 13 skulls, which the goddess of death passed on to humanity, was preserved.
In the process of searching for information on these items, it was discovered that the Ananerbe, a mysterious unit in the structure of the Third Reich, had an active interest in death skulls. So in 1943 an attempt was made to rob a private collector by agents of this service. The same crystal skull was the subject of their interest. During serious battles on the eastern front, when German troops are suffering colossal losses, a group of agents searches for old artifacts that are of no military value. Insanity, isn't it? Or did the German fanatics know something that could justify all their costs? Again, there are no answers.
Origin theories
There are several theories regarding the origin of this strange artifact. Let's consider each of them:
1. The artifact was created by an unknown civilization that ceased to exist for some reason. Some activists offer the opinion that it was Atlantis, but there is no evidence of this. The same opinion was expressed by German residents detained in 1943 in Brazil, who were hunting him. The Bible tells about an event that is called the Great Flood, what if this is a description of a man-made disaster of some race? Then it becomes clear that there was a developed race that was destroyed. Therefore, all over the planet they find evidence of the former greatness of this civilization.
2. The skull was given to people by aliens, so that our ancestors used it for something. But the question arises, why would the aliens need this? To date, there is no technology that would allow to recreate this grinding method. By the way, Frank Dorland is one of those who support this theory.
3. The ancestors of the Maya Indians were so fanatical that they polished a piece of rock crystal for 1500-2000 years. For the sake of satisfying their religious feelings, other use of this skull, as soon as in religious rites, probably does not exist.
4. The skull grants a wish. In 1991, Shapiro Joshua published an article referring to the story of some old Indian, he wrote that the skull has magical powers to fulfill the wishes of people.
To summarize, we can say that at the moment there is no logical explanation regarding this crystal skull. This artifact raises a huge number of questions, which are impossible to answer at the moment.
