American scientists are reporting new advances made by artificial intelligence algorithms. For example, one of them, created on the IBM Watson platform, managed for a whole semester to impersonate a living assistant Professor Eshok Gel, who teaches an online course "Artificial Intelligence Techniques" at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
“During my online course, which I teach from semester to semester, I come across tens of thousands of questions from students, and in order to answer them, I need the help of eight assistants at once. In the last semester, however, we decided to conduct an experiment and connected the ninth assistant, who was presented with a computer program,”says the professor.
The specific implementation of the IBM Watson system used by Professor Gel was named Jill Watson and answered the students' questions asked online along with the rest of the assistants. Fortunately, the questions from year to year are mostly the same - where to download, how to find it, and the like. Therefore, the professor's team was able to train the AI algorithm, using the database of already asked questions, and train so that the accuracy of the answers reached 97%. At the end of the semester, when students evaluated the work of assistants, Jill Watson received the highest rating, and the students could not even imagine that AI helped them all this time.
