In May 2005, an article appeared in the British press about a mysterious animal that was observed in the vicinity of the town of Lytham (Lytham St. Annes), Lancashire. The creature received the nickname "The beast of Lytham".

The first sighting of the beast was at the edge of the forest. He was described as no larger than a collie dog, but he had huge ears, a very large mouth, and a strange jumping gait.

Information about the mysterious beast quickly spread among the inhabitants of the small and calm town until now and caused a real commotion. Other eyewitness reports soon followed. The creature was mainly observed in the wooded area of Green Drive, which is dense enough to house a large animal.

Sandra Sturrock says she met an unusual animal while walking with her dog. According to her, the creature reminded her of a large, light-colored collie dog with large spreading ears. For some time the creature stood and looked at the woman and her dog, but as soon as Sandra moved to try to get closer, the creature fled into the forest.

According to the woman, she had never seen anything like this animal before, although she had seen many dogs, foxes and a huge number of deer in her life.

Another eyewitness Willie Davidson, a painter. He was playing balls near Green Drive when he suddenly heard a loud growl of an animal behind him. When he turned around, he saw a terrible beast, which reminded him of the monster from the fantastic TV series Doctor Who. How this meeting ended is silent.

Another witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he was walking and suddenly saw a strange animal on the field. It seemed to him very similar to a hare, but the size of a Labrador dog. He assures that the animal looked "completely unreal".

There are several theories about this strange "Beast from Litham". According to one of them, the mysterious creature is nothing more than a muntjak deer. More than a century ago, one of the local lairds kept a herd of these deer. It was believed that these deer were killed a long time ago, but what if one of them was able to survive?

However, hardly any of these deer could be compared to the frightening monsters from the Doctor Who series.

It couldn't have been a more exotic animal that escaped from the zoo or farms. The police at one time checked all reports about escaped large animals and no one said anything like that.

Some assumed that the "Beast of Litham" was just an old bald fox with drooping ears. One way or another, the mystery of the mysterious animal still remains unsolved. It is especially bizarre that in the following years there seems to have been no more reports of this creature.
