In his desire to live forever, or at least as long as possible, a person refines himself in every possible way, trying to deceive nature. As soon as human civilization appeared on the planet and the need arose to study physical phenomena, the question of finding a means of longevity became one of the most important. From the most ancient times to the present day, philosophers and naturalists tried to guess the riddle of nature, but no one succeeded in achieving any significant results.

According to legends, once the peoples inhabiting the planet were, if not immortal, then distinguished by significant longevity. By studying the artifacts that have come down to us, and in particular the ancient Sanskrit letters and the heritage of the Sumerians, scientists were able to determine that the present humanity is already the fifth civilization since the time the planet became habitable. Before us there were civilizations of Hyperboreans, Lemurians, Mu and Atlanteans. Although most ordinary people have heard about the latter, in fact, it was the race that inherited the least amount of superpowers from their predecessors. Each of these civilizations is the successor of the previous one, which died as a result of a global catastrophe. It is believed that the reason for this was the fall of a meteorite and each time, those who escaped founded a new island state.

According to legends, the ability of representatives of each of these peoples for longevity ranged from several hundred to two thousand years, and each of the following races had a shorter life span than the previous one. Among the Atlanteans, according to the memoirs of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, it did not exceed five hundred years, while the inhabitants of Hyperborea could enjoy life for more than a thousand years. Why was this ability lost over time? Of today's inhabitants of the Earth, only a few overcome the century-old milestone, and at this age it is almost impossible to lead a full life.

To analyze the situation, scientists have applied computer modeling of climate change on our planet, thanks to which they managed to obtain sensational results. It turns out that millions of years ago, the Earth had a completely different climate, and the composition of the air, radically different from today. Researchers believe that the reason for the current rapid aging of people is a fairly large proportion of oxygen in the atmosphere. Even at the beginning of the twentieth century, some Russian scientists expressed the opinion that acid, as oxygen was then called, has an alien origin, and today, these hypotheses acquire new relevance. Modern studies have shown that the current composition of the atmosphere began to change after the first global catastrophe, when Hyperborea, located in the area of the present North Pole, sank under the water.

It was this factor that became decisive in the subsequent decrease in life expectancy. By the time the Atlanteans appeared on Earth, which existed in parallel with the current human civilization, their maximum age was only a few hundred years, although scientists are sure that this is rather a merit of the genetic structure of the last prehistoric nation.

The oxygen level by that time already exceeded the current levels, so people did not feel discomfort, but the Atlanteans were forced to wear protective equipment such as masks or special helmets. Images of figures similar to humanoid creatures in spacesuits can be found on the walls of the South American and Ancient Egyptian pyramids. Egyptologists suggest that it could be both Atlanteans and other nations that owned space technologies by that time and were representatives of the human race in the form of gods. Subsequently, as you know, Atlantis disappeared, and the remnants of its inhabitants most likely either died due to the lack of infrastructure allowing them to exist in an atmosphere unsuitable for breathing, or they emigrated to another planet. Humanity, to this day, is struggling with the results of oxidation, repairing constantly deteriorating metal structures and of course trying to prevent aging, although not very successfully.

Despite the never-ending desire of scientists to find a formula for immortality, humanity would hardly be happy if it had such an opportunity. In any case, at this stage of their development, in fact, people are still absolutely undeveloped, both technically and spiritually, and lag behind their predecessors for many millions of years. That is why, most of the geniuses of mankind, who made grandiose discoveries, either repented later that they had given such an opportunity, or destroyed the discovery, arguing their action by the fact that people were not ready for such. Dynamite inventor Alfred Nobel regretted more than once that he gave us a substance of such destructive power. Nikola Tesla, on the other hand, simply took his developments to the grave, saying that people are not yet ready for this.

The possibility not even to live forever, but to increase the duration of the life cycle by only a few hundred years will ultimately lead to the complete destruction of civilization. At the moment, we do not yet have such technologies that could synthesize food in the required amount. And the main thing is that the synthesized products are completely safe. The increased need for food resources will lead to military conflicts for fertile land and, first of all, for sources of fresh water. It is the latter that, according to scientists' forecasts, may soon become one of the most demanded goods on the world stock exchanges. Longevity is also a psychological problem, because there have always been conflicts between generations, and in the case when three previous generations are alive, the scale of such conflicts can take on very significant proportions.

Although the latter may not happen, because in the case of an increase in life, the body can respond appropriately at the genetic level and all its processes will also be lengthened. Scientists have calculated that if a person, instead of the current ninety years, will live on average three hundred, then the gestation period for women can increase from three to five years, and a person's maturation and readiness to reproduce offspring will begin at fifty.

Based on this, the human desire to live longer can play a cruel joke with people. After all, the main goal of many people is to live long or forever, but at the same time not to grow old and remain all the time at the age of about twenty years. Unfortunately, today's knowledge in genetics is still so primitive that it is not possible to determine the consequences of longevity by modeling, and perhaps they will not be as promising as people want. As a payback for eternal youth, you can not only get overcrowded, but, for example, lose the opportunity to have offspring at all. And it is inappropriate to undertake such a thing, without even having stable energy sources that would not poison the natural environment. The only thing, what the wealthy citizens of the planet can afford in their desire to live a long time is to donate biomaterial for conservation in a special cryostorage.

Already today, several such enterprises operate in the United States, where cells of both well-known figures and private citizens are stored in liquid nitrogen and under constant control. Subsequently, when the technology of cloning is improved, all this material is used for cloning, as it was bequeathed.
