American scientists have dispelled the ingrained myth about the health risks of genetically modified foods. The US National Academy of Sciences has monitored GMO foods for the past 20 years and concluded that they are no less beneficial than organic counterparts.
The study is reported by the New York Post. By the way, the journalists called the article “GMOs are not the enemy”. It says that the development of cancer or other diseases in people who consistently consumed GMOs is not observed. More precisely, scientists were unable to identify even a hint of a direct link between cancer and the use of genetically modified foods.
Moreover, the authors of the study claim that thanks to GMOs, a person gets more vitamins and less insecticides. That is, on the face of the opposite trend, GMOs are more useful than ordinary fruits and vegetables. There is also an obvious argument that is not directly related to health - GMOs significantly increase the quality and size of crops.
In general, the American scientists called the myth about the dangers of GM crops a common marketing ploy aimed at promoting organic fruits and vegetables. And they called on people on the planet to radically reconsider their attitude to GMOs, since over 20 years of research, no negative effects on the body have been found.
