The rounded city was surrounded by a powerful wall from the outside world.

Chinese archaeologists have found the remains of a unique ancient settlement in the northwest of the country. The ruins were discovered near Lake Lob Nor in the Xinjiang Uygur region, where, according to scientists, a kind of oasis was formed in this area thanks to the lake and streams flowing into it. The settlement that emerged in its place is located fifty kilometers south of another ancient city - Loulan, which scientists discovered back in 1900. As the excavations showed, the found city had a round shape, its diameter was about 300 meters. The settlement was separated from the outside world by a powerful wall from 2.2 to 2.7 meters wide and 2.5 meters high.

Burials were discovered near the city, in which scientists found copper mirrors, combs, dishes and the remains of expensive fabrics, in the latter, presumably, aristocrats were buried. The study of the materials from which the buildings were made led to the conclusion that the city appeared in the II-III centuries AD. This coincides with the historical sources of that period, which mention the Kingdom of Loulan and the oasis, according to RIA Novosti. Then the Great Silk Road passed through these lands. Over time, the oasis disappeared under the onslaught of the desert - now the entire region, where in ancient times the kingdom of Loulan was located, is covered with sand.
