The history of the existence of one of the houses located on the Bersenevskaya embankment is shrouded in terrible stories about gloomy ghosts. This building was erected in a desert and swampy area. As they say, the arrested persons were previously brutally executed here, the most famous of whom was the publicly executed Emelyan Pugachev. In this place, there were chambers where the torture of convicted prisoners was carried out, which were connected by underground passages to the Kremlin. In addition, the fate of many people living in this house was really terrible.

This house was visited by a black "funnel" almost every night during the years of repression. The residents awaited with horror who would be arrested this time. Many from this house were persecuted, many committed suicide. Subsequently, this gloomy structure was called "the house of suicides." Rumor has it that ghosts now live in this house, walk along the corridors and rooms. Even the lighting by the new tenants of their estates did not give any sense.

Today there is a museum called "House on the Embankment". By visiting it, you can learn the history of the residents of this house, as well as get acquainted with the entire history of the Soviet country in the 30-50s of the 20th century. The archives of the museum contain a huge amount of materials and data about every inhabitant of this gloomy house. The museum is unique in itself, it was able to preserve the historical spirit and reliable information about the life of people belonging to the Soviet intelligentsia to our time. In the house and directly in the rooms, they were able to recreate the very interior and furnishings that were characteristic of that period of time.
