In the photo: Caught fish

Piranhas are found in the Starobeshevsky reservoir, one hundred and thirty kilometers from Kramatorsk, said a resident of Kramatorsk, Viktor, who works as a security guard at this reservoir. According to him, the evil and bloodthirsty South American guests were released into the pond a few months ago by "one of the cool"

And this is a piranha

He started this fish in an aquarium, and after it ate all its inhabitants, including Canadian frogs, he decided to get rid of it and released it into the reservoir. The fish have successfully taken root, multiplied, since they spawn all year round, and are already found in flocks, and some specimens reach 20-30 centimeters in size, that is, just those at which they are already dangerous to humans.

They devour fish eggs and small fish themselves. Local fishermen are already catching them with might and main, calling them "color carp" and fearlessly eating them.

The fisherman did not remain unfounded, but put at our disposal a whole flock of 7-10 centimeters of small fish caught the day before. Small, round, variegated, with a spiny dorsal fin and a characteristic red-black spot near the gill covers, with small teeth in the mouth, they did not resemble any fish known to us. We photographed a mysterious representative of the ichthyofauna and tried to identify him. Artem Malyshenko, the head of the aquaristics department of the Zolotaya Rybka store, made it clear.

The fish turned out to be by no means a piranha (although also a predator), but an Atlantic species of the perch family - bluegill dory. In their native lands, in the USA and Canada, the fish reaches sizes up to 40 centimeters and is a formidable predator, although it is not dangerous for humans. It was introduced to Europe in 1877 as an aquarium species. “She really could only get into our Donetsk reservoirs from aquariums. But the fish can survive, unlike the heat-loving piranha, and at a water temperature of 4 degrees. Therefore, it is possible that it will endure the winter and become a new representative of the Donbass fish fauna, although most likely it will die and it will not be in the reservoir next year,”said Artem.
