Keiro was the son of a British entrepreneur and a visiting gypsy. Perhaps that is why he inherited the gift of clairvoyance from his mother and already at a young age discovered that he could easily "read" lines and folds on the palms of his classmates and school teachers. In subsequent years, he made palmistry his profession, traveled a lot across India and other countries, collecting bits and pieces of the secrets of ancient esoteric knowledge and supplementing them with his own experience. Then he received a rich inheritance from his father, which allowed him not to think about his daily bread for many years, and returned to London. Here he successfully collaborated with Scotland Yard, solved several crimes with the help of palmistry and clairvoyance, which made him famous. He was approached by the powers that be, writers and poets, prostitutes and gangsters. To all of them, he equally predicted fate,regardless of their social origin.
However, not all of Keiro's predictions came true. First, he could not predict his own destiny, which is often the case among such predictors. This was done ten years before the present events, and at first they laughed at the fortuneteller, since nothing portended a tragedy. At the end of the 19th century, Keiro prophesied a successful career for Lord Horatio Kitchener, but at the same time warned him against sea voyages. Everything was confirmed to the point: Lord Kitchenner was killed when his ship was blown up by a German mine.

However, further prophecies completely undermined the faith of this American prose writer in the visionary abilities of Cairo, who predicted the untimely death of Mark Twain in 1903, who in fact lived another seven years and instead of New Year's greetings annually sent the seer postcards with a mocking inscription: "Hello from the other world."
