An amateur local historian from Perm claims to have solved a 300-year-old mystery

For two years, an accountant from Perm conducted his own investigation - he studied scanned maps of our country made abroad, looking for dozens of proofs. He published the results on his blog.
As it turned out, until the beginning of the 18th century, the mysterious city of Perm Velikaya, located on the Vishera River, just south of Cherdyn, was marked on all maps. The city was also mentioned in ancient documents - it was spoken of as the capital of the land with the same name. But from 1717-1718. the city disappeared from all maps; it was no longer mentioned in the documents. And the Great Perm was literally taken apart in different provinces.
“The conclusion is simple - the then authorities simply destroyed the city of Perm the Great, which stood on Vishera. And, most likely, together with the majority of its inhabitants. And they commanded to think that it has always been so. Why? I don’t know yet,”writes Vladimir Permyakov.
Moreover, on foreign maps of the 15-17th centuries, the city is marked with the largest icon - this means that it was even larger than Solikamsk, which at that time had 12,500 households. The name of the city was also found in the books of that time - on page 349 of "Historical Acts 1615-1645" the cities to which the decrees were sent are listed: Velikaya Perm, Cherdyn, Kaigorodok, Solkamskaya.
It is worth noting that all Russian maps date back only to the 18th century and later periods. The researcher makes the assumption that they were simply destroyed in order to hide the "evidence". “People like to interpret some events to their advantage. They ask a person why he was fired from his job, he will tell his version. It's the same in history. And I like to search for the truth, to understand some inconsistencies,”says Vladimir.
According to an amateur local historian, the estimated date of the “erasure” of the city is 1717-1718, since it was in 1719 that the Kama region was literally torn to pieces: all the lands were divided between other provinces, the rest was called the Solikamsk land, and the city of Perm the Great in documents did not appear again.
In the official history, it is believed that "Great Perm" is the name of the main city of the country, Great Perm, which is now known to us as Cherdyn. In the Book of the Big Drawing (1627) there is also "Old Perm" as the name of the city of Ust-Vym on the Vychegda River.
