One of the most prominent and revered sights of St. Petersburg is St. Isaac's Cathedral. However, this unique temple of Russia keeps many secrets and even mysterious prophecies. And the main ones are associated with the long construction of this architectural and iconic masterpiece of the capital of Russia. Forty years is practically long-term construction, as they say now. It is believed that the reason for this was the prophecy received by the architect Auguste Montferrand, under whose leadership the greatest temple (the fourth in a row) of the city on the Neva was built. It was rumored in secular circles that the witch guessed Montferrand that he would die immediately as soon as St. Isaac's Cathedral was built, which is why, they say, the architect is delaying the completion of this case.
Today researchers have proved that everything was quite different and much more prosaic. It was just that a mistake was made in the calculations of this grandiose construction project, which prevented the talented architect from completing it on time. However, not everyone agrees with this. Nothing prevented Montferrand himself from consciously making this miscalculation, and then, under his pretext, in every possible way to delay the completion of the construction of the temple. Whether it is true or not, as soon as Auguste completed the construction of St. Isaac's Cathedral in 1858, he immediately fell out of favor with Alexander II, the Emperor of Russia, who rudely and ungratefully treated the architect. After such a blow, Montferrand fell ill and no longer got to his feet - the prophecy was fulfilled.
But this was only one prediction associated with the mysterious Cathedral of St. Petersburg. The second said that the USSR would exist as long as the Temple of Isaac was in the woods. What was meant by this was not entirely clear to many. But since 1986, the cathedral has really begun to be put in order, that is, rebuilt from a museum back into a Christian church.
