Now scientists from the American space agency NASA decided to test one of the hypotheses: is not solar storms the main reason for the suicidal behavior of marine mammals?
It was noted that most often mass suicides of whales, dolphins and porpoises occur in New Zealand, Australia and the Cape Cod Peninsula in the northeastern United States, 120 kilometers from Boston. Of course, the reason for such strange behavior may lie in the violation of the "biological" compass of whales, dolphins and porpoises, for example, sounds emitted by underwater equipment, but according to most scientists, the reason is much more complex and deeper. A number of common features, for example, a gentle coastline, sandy bottom, and so on, uniting the places of the most frequent suicides of marine animals, allowed scientists to put forward another theory. Whales, dolphins and porpoises being washed ashore can cause sun activity.
During solar storms, the sun "shoots out" huge clumps, "balls" of charged particles. These particles strongly affect the operation of satellites orbiting the Earth, and after entering the atmosphere of our planet, on energy networks and electronic equipment, especially telecommunications. Some scientists believe they can also influence the behavior of living things, including marine animals.
At this stage, the theory of the influence of the sun is purely speculative and not supported by facts. NASA scientists are now collecting information about both the behavior of the sun and the behavior of marine animals, after which it will be analyzed in the most thorough way, writes the Daily Mail. The study, which will run until at least September, will help, NASA hopes, shed light on one of the biggest mysteries of marine animals.
