Man is a part of the living world of the Earth. But he is distinguished from all other creatures by the ability to think. Until the middle of the 20th century, scientists had no doubt that the brain, or rather its gray matter, is the organ of thinking. But suddenly there were researchers who doubted this seemingly unquestionable truth. It turned out that some people manage to think without a brain, and organs that seem to have nothing to do with thinking take part in it
This photo appeared on the Miami State Police website. At first, site visitors thought it was Photoshop, but a police officer confirmed that there was such a person, and she personally saw him. The smiling guy's name is Carlos Rodriguez. He is 25 years old and otherwise he is no different from other people. The police are looking for a man because of his relationship with a prostitute. Carlos was fined, which he did not pay.
When the man was found, brought to the police station and asked to take off his headdress for photography, it turned out that the guy refused to do this for a reason.
On the eve of the October Revolution, the journal "Nature and People" published an article "Is it possible to live without a brain?" … Its author, Dr. A. Bouquet, gives numerous examples, clearly showing that the brain is not the only and indispensable condition for meaningful human activity.
“A ten-year-old boy was wounded in the back of the head with a rapier. The blow was inflicted according to all the rules of "art": the bone was shattered, the meninges were opened, the brain flowed freely through the wound. Beyond expectations, the boy recovered. But three years later, under the pressure of "juices" flowing to the weakened place, he died: he developed dropsy. The boy was dissected and… no brain was found in him. This case is taken from the writings of the physician Lusitanus, who lived in Holland in the 16th century.
And here is the description of the patient's history, made by Dr. Deto, assistant to Professor Braque. Once in Algeria, an Arab with a completely fractured left browbone came to them for a consultation. He was given the usual dressing and allowed further healing to nature. The patient recovered and began to lead a life familiar to the Algerian Arabs. But suddenly, without any symptoms of illness or ailments, in a few minutes he passed into another world. The Arab was also dissected. And instead of the frontal segment of the brain, they found a huge abscess. At least one-sixth of the entire brain substance was disturbed, and the process of suppuration lasted about three months.
A third example is described in a paper by Dr. Robinson of the Paris Academy of Sciences. A 60-year-old man was wounded in the crown of the head by the sharp end of a baguette. Some blood came out. For a month, the wound did not remind of itself. Then the victim began to complain of visual impairment. However, he did not experience suffering, but died unexpectedly during an epileptic seizure. An autopsy showed that the patient had no brain at all, and only a thin leafy membrane of the medulla containing the products of putrefactive decomposition was preserved. All the central parts of the organ disappeared without a trace. For more than a month, the man lived practically without a brain.
Such incredible things are happening today. In 1978, in the Moscow region, there were "minor problems" on one of the most powerful accelerators in the world. Physicist Anatoly Bugorsky decided to eliminate them. But then for some reason the blocking of the equipment did not work, and the scientist's head was pierced by a proton beam of 70 billion electron volts. The radiation charge received by the physicist is estimated at 200 thousand roentgens! His
brain should have been completely burned out, and according to all the laws of medicine, Bugorsky could not survive.

But he survived. Anatoly continued to work, ride a bike and play football. In memory of the incredible incident, two openings that did not overgrow were preserved in his head: one on the back of his head, the other near the nose.
Why do people, who have lost part, and sometimes the whole brain, continue to live without noticing the "loss"? Perhaps other human organs are capable of taking on some of the functions traditionally assigned to the brain?
Heart, you don't want peace
The first scientist to make the assumption that the role of the heart is not limited to pumping blood in the body was the great Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov. In his book "On the Death of a Man", the scientist argued that the heart is not only a motor, but also a sense organ. According to Pavlov, even the ancient Greeks understood the word “heart” as the soul, thought, mind and convictions of a person. This is evidenced by the expressions that exist among the people: "heart suffers", "heart hurts", "heart longs" and so on. “All these phenomena in their basis have a deep physiological meaning … - the scientist writes. - Not only physical, but, above all, spiritual well-being depends on the correct function of the heart. The physical health of this organ is always associated precisely with the spiritual state. To be convinced of this, it is enough to look at people of the so-called liberal professions - artists,writers, artists, musicians. Their physical labor is easy, but the susceptibility to various life worries is very high, and any doctor knows how easily the heart of these people is affected, how there are practically no owners of healthy hearts among them!.."
Several decades have passed since Pavlov's death, and his theoretical ideas were confirmed by the work of American physiologists Glen Davidson and Lester Verten. They explained the functions of the nerve fibers that braid the heart. It is thanks to them that this organ perceives everything that affects a person in the psychological sphere.
At all times, writers and poets knew about this role of the heart, associating with it the highest feeling - love. The idea of the importance of the heart as an organ that determines the correctness of our thoughts and actions was expressed with great depth by the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery in the wonderful fairy tale "The Little Prince": “Only the heart is sharp-sighted. You cannot see the most important thing with your eyes."
And according to the Bible, the property of the heart is the ability of a person to feel his Creator, to enter into direct and immediate communication with him. All the saints and hermits, talking about their visions, spoke with reverence of the gracious influence of the Holy Spirit on the heart, thanks to which they felt His presence.
Think belly
At the beginning of the 20th century, the English scientist John Newport Langley calculated the number of nerve cells in the human stomach and intestines and was amazed. There were about 100 million of these cells, that is, much more than in the spinal cord. There is a network of branched neurons and auxiliary cells in the abdomen, so it is quite reasonable to consider this as a kind of abdominal brain.
Professor Paul Enck of the University of Tübingen said that the "abdominal brain" can be depicted as a stocking, covering the esophagus, stomach and intestines. Confirmation of the similarity of the functions of the brain and the "abdominal brain" is the presence of affected cells in the stomach and intestines of people with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Some researchers even believe that 90% of the information about our sensations comes from the bottom up - from the "abdominal brain" to the brain, and only 10% of commands comes in the opposite direction.
But long before scientists, people had already noticed that the head is directly connected to the stomach and reacts to its behavior. Hence came the expressions: "a well-fed belly is deaf to the teaching", "sucked in the stomach", "inner voice" and the like.
Research conducted by the University of California physiologist Professor Emeran Mayer has shown that this "brain" controls many of the emotional processes in the body. Our good and bad feelings are not just intuition; they are based on a very real basis.
Why intuitive decisions give such great results, explains the American physiologist Antonio Damasio. In his opinion, the brain works like a calculating machine, so it needs a huge, poorly "digestible" amount of information. And the "abdominal" does not need it, since the abdomen has its own "somatic landmarks" that give an idea of how we will feel after making a decision.
Aura will help us
In addition to the heart and stomach, another important "organ" is involved in human thinking … the aura. This is the opinion of one of the oldest ufologists in Russia - Yuri Fomin. True, he calls it differently - the information distribution structure of a person (IRS).
The basis for the development of the theory of IRS was the concept of the morphogenic field of the organism. Each cell has an individual morphogenic field, which carries all the information about the human body, uniting into a common morphogenic field. It, in turn, is in constant communication with each cell and controls the formation and functioning of both the cell itself and the entire organism as a whole. And it is the heart that connects the IRS of an individual with the information field of the Earth,what makes foresight of the future possible - proscopy and clairvoyance. This also explains the effect of telepathy, hereditary memory, memories of long past lives, reincarnation into dead people, the existence of ghosts and much more.
