Glemis Castle is a huge fortress, which has been the ancestral home of the Strathmore Counts for centuries. The building, which has preserved to this day battlements and high towers, is located in Scotland near the village of Strathmore. Terrible events in the gigantic fortress of Glemis began to take place in 1034, when the Scottish king Malcolm was brutally murdered in the castle by rebellious vassals.
As legend has it, a large amount of the king's blood flowed out of his brutally torn body and absorbed into the floorboards, where a stain was formed, still remaining in the so-called Malcolm's apartments, where the ruler's ghost periodically visits.
And the story of another castle ghost of the castle is no less creepy and dates back to 1466. In the course of a long neighborly feud, the Ogilves clan, whose estate was located near the Lindsay clan, was defeated by their neighbors. Clan Ogilves, fleeing from their pursuers, asked for help from the owner of the castle Glemis, who not only did not help, he imprisoned everyone in a casemate and doomed the fugitives to starvation. The ghost of the last Ogilves who died of hunger and without repentance walks through the huge house in the form of a gray-bearded old man to this day.
Half a century after the above events in Edinburgh, by the decision of James V, Lady Glemis was publicly burned at the stake, who was considered a witch. The castle, having lost its mistress, became the property of the king. But, after the innocence of Lady Glemis was proved, the castle went to the son of the murdered woman. And the ghost of a woman, as she is called the Gray Lady, has since often been seen strolling through the huge corridors of the castle. The Earls of Strathmore, from the 17th century, became the full-fledged owners of the Glemis Castle.
