There are 15 disassembled female and male skeletons of different ages. Experts named the new species naledi and classified it as the genus Homo, to which modern humans now belong. Unfortunately, scientists have not yet been able to figure out when these creatures lived, but the head of the study, Lee Berger, claims that naledi may be the first representatives of the human race that existed in Africa 3 million years ago. In his opinion, the found remains could belong to creatures that are a kind of "bridge" between primitive bipedal primates and humans.
