Russian physicist Sergei Filippov and his Slovak counterpart Mario Ziman have developed a technology for transferring quanta - the smallest particles that can store any information - over a distance. According to scientists, they found a way to move objects almost instantly, but technically it will be possible in 20-25 years.

For several years now, physicists around the world have been struggling with the possibility of quantum teleportation. So far, it has been possible to recreate in one laboratory an exact copy of an atom that is in another.

Why are we still stuck in traffic jams and not teleporting from home to work, and from there to the resort? The answer is from Sergei Filippov. He is 27 years old, graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, stayed to teach, and now, as he himself says, is one step closer to the Nobel Prize.

Filippov met the co-author of the study, Mario Ziman from Slovakia, on an internship. And it spun, or rather, got confused. This is the so-called "quantum entanglement". These are specially organized particles that can store information of any kind, be it the structure or state of particles or data from a bank card. The main thing is that the external environment does not harm the quantum entanglement when transferring this data.

For example, in 2011, European and American scientists transmitted a signal by air between the islands of La Palma and Tenerife, but they were greatly disturbed by the weather, and the experiment failed. Filippov and Ziman figured out how to protect the signal from rude exposure, and this opens up new opportunities, including in the field of personal data protection. Now, if an extra third intervenes in the process of transmitting information, you will find out about it, and the signal itself will simply scatter across the Universe.

All this is very relevant, if we recall the dossier of Edward Snowden, the scandals with wiretapping of Angela Merkel, the conflict between the American National Security Agency and German intelligence.

But according to Filippov, each of us will be able to use quantum technologies no earlier than the 2040s, but the area of application will be the widest. Quants also mean medicines, the defense industry, new materials and energy conservation.

As for quantum teleportation, everything is more complicated here, although the process itself is somewhat reminiscent of making a duplicate key. But, as Sergey Filippov explained, we are talking only about objects of the microworld, so, alas, it will not work to teleport a person using quantum technologies - neither now, nor in the foreseeable future.

This requires trillions of precise measurements and an unimaginably large amount of energy. By the standards of the microcosm, the mass of a person is too large, which means that the task is literally overwhelming.
