The US military is driving a new AI-powered intelligence and propaganda tool, according to white papers posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website on Wednesday. Its task is to help the American military, involved in work on social networks. A promising new chatbot will help them better understand and properly conduct a dialogue with interlocutors who communicate on the Internet in languages such as Russian, French and Arabic.

AI capable of self-development and self-improvement is designed to work with text and voice messages, video, images and other content distributed on social networks in Arabic, French, Pashtun, Farsi, Urdu, Russian and Korean languages. AI must understand colloquial phrases of current slang, social media brevity codes, emotions, and recognize different dialects.

Incoming content will be automatically analyzed by sentiment, dividing into groups according to neutral, positive and negative emotions. Based on the analysis of messages, the AI will be able to determine "the ability to influence a specific audience based on the received emo data."

In addition, the tool should be an ideal phrase generator and translator from language to language. That is, he should not only be able to correctly translate the phrase from English, putting all the semantic shades into it, but the AI will also be able to generate “at least 10 unique posts created on the basis of one original one, but at the same time preserving the tonality and all the subtle semantic meanings of the original”.

The answers should be fine-tuned, not based on generally accepted well-known dictionaries, but ideally adjusted to the slang used in the original text not yet reflected in the dictionaries. The software is also capable of independently analyzing the impact of the generated AI message on the target audience.

The US military's work on social media in other countries is not surprising - the Pentagon was one of the pioneers in this area. Millions of people in forums around the world have intensively discussed with US soldiers, supposedly they are real people who propagated certain views to them. However, a promising new AI is already something completely different. This is practically an autonomous interlocutor who can conduct simultaneous dialogues with thousands of people and almost does not require staff intervention.

This particular request for such an advanced AI came from the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), which primarily requires intelligence gathering on social media. However, the bot tool described above seems more similar to the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) order. That is, on an instrument of psychological influence, on psychological warfare.

Going forward, AI-created ghost people will have to persuade their interlocutors to the right views and even to cooperate with the help of correctly generated network messages.
