Samples of rock art, discovered by archaeologists in the Indian state of Maharashtra, indicate that in prehistoric times, a civilization unknown to science lived here.
Scientists are sure that ten thousand years ago in India there was a civilization of hunter-gatherers - this version is supported by the fact that most of the found rock paintings depict animals.
According to the BBC, the drawings are at least ten thousand years old, that is, it seems that scientists have managed to find the world's oldest rock art samples.
“The artists who created these images were obviously pretty good at animals, since they are recreated with very high detail, as for primitive painting. Interestingly, among the plots there are both land animals and sea creatures - in particular, whales, turtles and sharks. In addition to animals, representatives of an unknown civilization drew people and complex geometric patterns,”archaeologists say.
Judging by the fact that some of the drawings depict animals atypical for India (rhinos and hippos, for example), we can talk about a civilization that emerged from Africa. Well, or scientists do not know everything about the migration of ancient animals.
