On May 7, 1989 at 13:40 the South African naval frigate "Sa Tafelberg" reported to the base that an unknown object was observing on its radar screens moving at a speed of more than 5,000 miles (1 nautical mile = 1.852 km) towards the coastline.
Two Mirages were taken into the air to intercept, the squadron commander Goozen was the senior flight. At 13:50 the object entered South African airspace.
Goozen reported that the object made a sharp maneuver, which the Mirages are unable to repeat, but contact with the object has not been lost. An order came from the ground: shoot down. At 13:59, Mirazhi opened fire and recorded direct hits. The object "swayed", at an angle of 25 degrees began to dive to the ground and fell in the Kalahari Desert 80 km away. from the border. At the crash site, a crater with a diameter of 150 m and a depth of 12 m was found, in which there was a disk-shaped object with a diameter of 18 and a height of 8 meters. Along the perimeter there are 12 oval windows. There were no connecting seams on the device. Of the three available telescopic supports, only one was fully extended. The object was taken to one of the secret Air Force bases.
At the base in the facility, a hatch opened and two humanoid creatures emerged from the apparatus, one of which was clearly wounded. Growth 120-150 cm, the skin is grayish-blue, the head is disproportionate in size. The eyes are slanted, without pupils, hands down to the knees, with three fingers. An internal autopsy showed that the pilots of the ship have nothing to do with humans, internal organs similar to humans (liver, kidneys, stomach) are absent, but many arteries and a substance resembling chlorophyll.
It has been suggested that the creatures by their nature were, apparently, closer to the plant than the animal world. It was not possible to establish the source of the movement and the place where the device came from.
Where does the secret information come from?
The information was leaked by a certain James van Groynen. In addition to the story, he presented a certificate of the South African intelligence officer and photocopies of documents. As a representative of the special services, he took part in the work on the study of UFOs.
Before getting access to classified information, Van Groynen signed an obligation to keep secret information that would become known to him and was warned that disclosing it would amount to high treason. However, despite this, Groynen decided to make the information public, believing that hiding it would be "treason to all mankind."
Check
Assertive journalists began to check Groynen's story. They found the pilot Goozen, who confirmed that he had indeed fired at an unknown object in the air. A South African intelligence officer confirmed Operation Silver Diamond, but he did not know its essence.
There were two eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen a UFO crash. As for the Ministry of Defense, its spokesman Colonel Rolt said that he was not going to comment on the "delusional stories appearing in the press."
Groynen himself disappeared from the field of view of journalists in 1990. Whether the punishing hand of South African justice overtook him, whether he managed to get lost in this troubled world, or whether the secret services removed him quietly is unknown. But he won't tell anyone else.
