Thanks to one well-known federal TV channel, all Russians know that Adolf Hitler, most likely, escaped from Soviet troops in 1945 under the ice of Antarctica, and UFOs are almost certainly a product of the German fascist aircraft industry. Let's try to figure out what is actually behind all these conspiracy theories.
All subsequent "shocking hypotheses" refer to a real person, the American polar explorer Richard Byrd, who flew over both poles of the Earth. True, there is evidence that he still almost flew to the North Pole. But his flights on the primitive "Fokker" in the 20s of the last century over Antarctica is a real feat, for which he was awarded well-deserved orders and honors. His naval expedition to pole number four called "High Jump", which Byrd personally directed, is shrouded in a mass of myths. It is known that in 1946, the US Navy aircraft carrier, accompanied by a group of warships, moved to Antarctica. What happened to them next is described in different ways.

Allegedly, during military exercises in polar waters, American ships were attacked by a whole swarm of glowing flying saucers, the weapons of people turned out to be powerless against them. After that, strangers in black, blond and blue-eyed, beautiful in face and body, appeared to the leader of the expedition, they spoke with a German accent and demanded that the Americans leave. Byrd proudly refused, and a second attack followed. Blond beasts on their UFOs shot down twenty American planes, killed four hundred brave sailors. Only after that did the commander give orders to retreat from the polar ice. The results of the Antarctic expedition were classified, and Byrd was hid in a madhouse so that he would not talk too much.
There is also a subversion, according to which these were not the Nazi undead, but aliens who are hiding from people under the ice of Antarctica. And with a German accent they speak just for fun.
The legend is based on the fact of the real polar expedition of the Germans in 1938-39. Allegedly, then a giant cavity was found under the ice, suitable for comfortable living. And Hitler, therefore, decided to spread straws for himself, creating a New Berlin there for two million purebred Aryans. At the end of the Second World War, the Germans took out all their elite, scientists, doctors and service personnel by submarines. And the blond beasts live there to this day, flying around the Earth in a UFO, waiting for their time.
Richard Byrd allegedly entrusted all this amazing information only to his personal diary, fragments of which allegedly appear on the Internet, stirring the public's imagination and giving material to some TV channels.

According to these "diaries", in 1947, Richard Byrd flew into the planet on his plane through abnormal turbulence, where he discovered picturesque fields, forests, meadows with mammoths, as well as a beautiful city of a secret civilization that chose to hide from people, fearing that those destroy all life in the ashes of a nuclear war. All there is ruled by a certain Master who cares for the future of the Earth, restoring the population of people and civilization after the end of the world war. People there also speak with a German accent and fly on discs with the indispensable swastika. Absolutely not fearing exposure and the arrival of imperialist predators for underground resources, the Master let Byrd go home to the USA, where he was put in a madhouse as a reward for his feat.

Seriously speaking, in this whole story it is necessary to find out why the polar expedition was disrupted. And first you need to decide whether it was an expedition? The very name "High Jump" and the participation of warships with an aircraft carrier in it testifies to the fact that these were military exercises in extreme climatic conditions. Therefore, three months spent on them instead of a six-month expedition is the norm. Ice prevented them from lasting longer. The military character explains the stamp "For official use" on most of the documents.
The myth-makers forget to mention 11 media representatives who would definitely not keep silent about UFOs, even with a pistol to their temples. The duck about Hitler and New Berlin was invented by an emigrant named Ladislas Szabo who fled to Argentina, inspired by the story of the real capture of German submariners by the Americans. And journalists inserted UFOs into Byrd's polar raid because of the topic of "flying saucers" that was gaining momentum. In fact, everything turns out to be extremely simple and mundane.
